I used the soem4 to wire in an old, but excellent crossfire amp. I am keeping the bose hu for the foreseeable future, but holy noise batman.. Everything gets plenty loud, I haven't put in my components yet, so so far I have the bose amp disconnected and the LOC and my amp wired into the blue connector's wires. Even with the bose hu on '1' with the engine off, there is noise through the crappy bose speakers, is this the case with everyone? Once the hu is up to 3-4+, its not noticable.. Also there is engine noise, just within the first few mph after being stopped..

What has been done to get around that, if anything, w/o a new hu? My fear is that with good components the noise will be more prevalent..

Yeah, well I tied the grounds together, still noise there, but I'm wondering if its the rca cable now, even though its wrapped up in the trunk and only going from the loc to the amp, but I remember now that I swapped this cable to the subs in my last vehicle because of this same issue and the noise was unnoticable through the subs.. But in that truck, this cable ran along side the power wire, not just coiled up running 2 ft in the trunk..

I got a deal on 20' wires, so under my rear seat, I've got a total of about 10' of wire on each RCA coming from my headunit, so I doubt that's the problem.

If the whine disappears when the car's turned off, then 99% of the time it's a bad ground.
If the whine still exists when it's off, then maybe you can blame the RCAs. Could be a poor quality LOC too.

yeah the noise is there with the engine off.. hopefully its the rcas, if not i dunno.. The LOC is a PAC soem4, they are not supposed to be crap.. So that shouldn't be it, but i dunno yet I guess..

actually got a chance to play around with everything, wasn't the rca's fault... the gains on the LOC were all the way up and that was causing all the noise... turned the gains on the LOC to 1/4 and everything is perfect..

Good to hear it's fixed, something else to add to the list of things to check when somebody else has similar problems.

Fit, more or less, but you still might have to do a custom mounting ring to get it to line up right. It's definitely shorter than the Bose woofer, and approximately the same diameter.

I have a 2003 g35 sedan. I have the bose head deck and the bose eternal amp in the rear dash with the factory sub. I need to splice into the wires before the amp to put them to a LOC so I can wire my new amp and subs I am putting in.

Ive read threw all 8 pages on this topic. WHAT COLOR ARE THE WIRES I tap into? I seen that several people have asked this and there is no answer. I want to tap into them before the stock amp not after it. Thank you.

FYI, some of the wires change color between the headunit and the amp.

http://www.psedog.com/cars/fsm/g35/sedan/2003/av.pdf is the manual you're looking for.
