Dead Car But Battery Is Good!

Im getting real tired of this car! I get into my car, go to start and it turns over for a split second and then it dies. just minutes before it was driving great with no sign or symptoms of alternator, or battery failure. I had to have it towed to the dealer after hours but after asserting myself, Got a brand new not even a loaner FX35. anyway, anyone know what the cause is here? I thought maybe one of the main Fuses but the guy checked it out and are good. anyone? RX

Noticed you have 791VX, did you use the remote starter to start the car when it died? or you actually trun the key to start it? could be the sensor for the bypass had same problem with my old Clifford RS 2.5 sometimes it wont start till they replace the module for key bypass.

yea that would have nothing to do with all other power to not work. horn, lights, ummmmmmmmm everthing. your talking about the ring around the key housing was too far away from the area it needs to be to reach. the alarm is not the problem. thanks though RX

Amazing that the Infiniti tech found out the problem. Here in Atlanta they blame it on aftermarket alarm and refuse to work on cars lol

^+1 that is probally why they said what they said becasue you have an aftermarket alarm unless the dealer themselves put it in.

I had respect for local infiniti techs until this happened to a buddy of mine. We fixed the issue in 10min and dealer had the car for 2 weeks and couldn't figure it out.

If CONSULT cannot pin point a problem - Infiniti techs can't fix it lol

Max4Speed, were you able to fix the problem described by imRACERX? if so, what was the problem. how did you fix it? was it the fuse link mentioned earlier by imRACERX?

my car is having a similar problem. it was fine all this time until today. i push the alarm, sat in, turn the ignition and bam! all electricity went out. went to the battery to check the connection, wiggled it a bit and the power went back on. sat down and tried to crank and again power goes out the min i turn to the "on" position. tried that over three time and same thing. highly doubt the dealer would even think about warranty for my car...so i most likely need to fix it myself. any pointer would be great

TIA

$500 to replace a fuse link? The part itself is only $40 and only takes 10 mins to replace

Use a mulitmeter to test the voltage going to the link, thats how i figured out the problem when infiniti couldnt

well i checked the fuse and they're all good. i will get my hand on a voltmeter and check the voltage.

While checking teh battery links i decide the whack it one more time (just to vent) and the power went back on. I was like WTF and went to start it and it started. Shut the car off and tried it two more time and it turns on. SO now i'm just scratching my head.

can there be anything wrong with the ignition wiring? basically when i try to crank it, that's when the power goes out. i though it was when it is in the "on" position but it happens more often when i try to crank the ignition. After i crank i hear the buzz/click sound similar to when you try to crank the engine without power. a split second later the power goes dead while i'm holding the key in the crank position.

thanks for all the responses
