Eclipse AVN5435 with PAC SWI-ECL
Hey gang,
I'm getting the Eclipse AVN5435 installed soon and unfortunately this will render my steering wheel audio controls useless. I've read some posts on this site about the PAC SWI (steering wheel interface) models which are essentially adapaters to convert the OEM steering wheel signals into a format recognizable by the aftermarket head unit.
I've read many posts about other G35 owners putting the SWI-X universal adapter in, and the feedback seems mixed. Since this adapter operates over infrared technology, and because the signals are translated on-the-fly each time a button is pressed, 1-2 second delays have been reported as the norm.
There's another adapter specifically made for Eclipse head units called the SWI-ECL. I've contacted both Eclipse and PAC about this and both seem to think it will work for the AVN5435. Since this adapter is hard-wired, rather than infrared, there would be less delay - or so I've been told.
So, what I was hoping to find out on this forum is whether any other AVN5435 owners have implemented either of these PAC adapter solutions - SWI-X or SWI-ECL - and to give me any tips or advice before I make my purchase.
Thanks in advance everyone...

We installed one of these before in a g - for bigsash - and it works fine. The SWI-X uses infrared, as I understand, and the ECP doesn't - it hardwire connects right to the data wires on the back of the 5435. Different system.

SWI-ECL it is....
I always prefer a hard-wired connection to a wireless one, as long as convenience and appearance are preserved.
Thanks for the info gang.
