It comes w/ one year warranty from the place I bought it from; they have sold over 10,000 audio items w/ noone complaining about needing a 3 year warranty. Theft coverage? That is why I pay for full coverage auto insurance. They will pay for a new unit if it gets stolen. Thanks for the concern though. You're right though; paying 400 extra for 2 years more coverage isnt a bad deal.

LOL so what if they have had no complaints this is a brand new HU. Bound to have problems, just like the previous generation AVNs did at first.

I don't think your insurance will pay for the HU if it just stops working so you better be prepared to break your window and claim it stolen if that happens. You will probably have to rip it out of your dash with a saw too if you want to be believed on a $2000 HU claim.

oh yeah and dont forget to break the window

Hey; dont hate because you like paying 400 dollars more for extra coverage that you will not need. I'll be sure to PM you after 3 years of no problems w/ the HU. The auto insurance was referring to the one year theft coverage that was mentioned; not if the head unit stops working.

They have sold the previous gen AVN (one you have) since it came out w/out any problems. I'm sure you know the 5500 is basically the same as yours w/ a couple of added features. Nice try though. I really dont want to make this a debate about where I purchased the unit from. Let's keep this on topic please.

The last ones didnt have any problems? Hmm news to me. Guess I should tell my customers it was in their head and everything is ok.

ANYthing can happen with ANY product at ANY time. Better to be safe than sorry.

I see alot more of them than you do, I assure you there have been problems. Not alot, as Eclipse is excellent with R&D and QC, but issues have been out there.

Pearl; I'm sure you do see many more units than the average consumer; but what is the percentage that has gone bad compared to total units shipped out? Probably not higher than 5% correct? It's a gamble I am willing to take; if others like yourself are not; I totally respect that.
