AVN5435 and dvd-r/dvd+r disks... anyone else have trouble?

Well i know that i had problems with my backup nav disk playing in the AVN unit until i burned it from an NEC burner and Book typed it as dvd-rom rather than + or - dvd r. Now im trying to use my toshiba burner at home to burn dvd's that will play on my avn. I have some cheap media right now, and i'll try buying some verbatim disks and see if i have more luck, but i doubt it will help THAT much. I have no problem playing these disks on my dvd player, but if i put em in my computer after burning or into my avn they wont play. Any ideas from anyone else out there? Im really considering just buying an NEC that allows book typing so that i KNOW it wont be a problem...

o by the way if you dont know what im talking about with the book type stuff... but still have had success playing burned dvd's in your avn, let me know still please.
