and yes i did get the pac unit but i have not gotten it to work yet. It is halfway connected (about 90%) the only thing missing is the power wire which we couldnt figure out at the time. Could that be a problem why the remote doesnt work?

those that are using the PAC ALP.... does this allow you to use ALL of the steering wheel controls with the Kenwood? and is there any kind of delay like when using the PAC SWI-X?
I hooked up the PAC ALP unit. I need to do a little fine tuning I think , but it is handling the volume and that's the steering wheel control I use most of the time. I don't think the Kenwood unit will accept the power on/off through the steering wheel, I have that one set to 'attenuate', I use that more that power on/off anyway. 'Mode' works fine, though there's a lot of 'modes' on this unit (AM/FM/DVD/video/Sirius/external media/cd/?). The track up/down works in all the modes I can remember checking it.
Delay-wise, the volume control is not quite as responsive as the OEM unit/steering wheel control, or the control on the kenwood unit itself, but in practice I've not had any trouble getting used to it. Can't compare it to the SWI-X since I've not tried that.
