Bel vs Escort vs Valentine 1
I find the RX65 very interesting with the new Ku band technology coming soon. Look likes Escort is on the cutting edge of things to come IMO.
What's your opinion on the VEIL product?

I check http://www.speedzones.com every year to see the results of their tests. They seem to be pretty fair to all the detectors.
Love my V1, but the Escort/Bel is a fabulous unit as well. They have their different strengths, so get thet one that suits you :-)

G35_TX has a habit of this. Check out this thread:

Starting around post 122 he turns a rather interesting and logical thread into a "V1 IS BEST, EOD, LOL, YOU ARE STUPID IT IS THE BEST, EOD" type of thread... very disappointing. Lets not fall prey to his childish games again (as I did, as you can see in the post
) and wrap this thread up... I think we've provided the OP with enough information along with the numerous other threads already on these forums. G35_TX OBVIOUSLY is unwilling to be objective, OBVIOUSLY unwilling to participate in LOGICAL/REASONABLE discussion and instead tries to discredit people and voice his own opinion as the end-all-be-all voice in all things radar detector related.
I, for one, don't want to see any of you getting into yet another pissing contest with the likes of G35_TX.

Seriously, people get all religious over these radar detectors. None of them are a silver bullet. Make your decision and enjoy the detector, I know I have.
Wow, attacking me now? I am being objective. But I also have owned many detectors the V1 flat out works the best. I don't see any childish games except for you trying to start a childish flame fest. Move on. There are many tests out there that show the V1 over any other radar. That is a fact.
I never discredit anyone unless the information isn't correct.
And in that other thread, its pretty obvious you were the one being childish and now again your acting the same way when this thread was fine. Leave this thread alone and grow up.

The Federal Commumications Commission (FCC) has allocated 13.45 GHz in the Ku band for traffic radar use in the United States, however Ku radars are not sold or used in the U.S. Some European countries are reported to use Ku band (13.45 GHz) traffic radars.

By the way, Veil works great.

I am sure some of you don't like my cutting and pasting method but I got tired of people advertising that Escort and Bel products were the best when I knew otherwise.
Thanks for the information on the Veil product, the videos on how the police use the radar guns is very interesting, however, I thought it was illegal to have Blinder type radar jammer due to FCC regulations.
Blinder is a laser jammer, not a radar jammer. As laser uses light, it is regulated by the FDA and not the FCC. Some states have outlawed the usage of laser jammers, others have not. It's real tricky terriroty regardless, because all you're really doing is emitting light. Then again, I guess the gov't can make anything illegal if they want. You are correct, radar jammers that actually work are 100% illegal.

The following states are known to have legislation prohibiting the use of laser jammers:
California
Colorado
Illinois (as of 1/1/2006)
Minnesota
Nebraska
Oklahoma
Utah
Virginia
Washington DC

I had a V1 that got stolen out of my last car. It worked great. When it was time to replace it I wanted an 8500 X50. It also works great.
I didn't like the shape/size of the V1, honestly I was surprised how big the 8500 x50 was when I received it, but I still like its form factor better than the V1.
My only complaint with the X50 is that it falses alot in POP mode. My V1 didn't have POP. I am considering turning the POP off on my 8500.

As reviewed by a retired police officer at radarbusters.com:
"We do not sell the Valentine 1, however as many people consider this radar detector the bench mark of radar detectors we do test it. The Valentine 1 is an excellent unit with excellent range and filtering. The big drawback in our opinion is the price as it costs $399.00 In testing, the Escort 8500 outperformed the Valentine 1 in range and filtering."

Radar Roy from Radarbusters.com said this about the Valentine One, "Just spoke with Carl Fors from SML, his website will be going online tonight with the 2005 results. He has declared the V895, 8500 and the Valentine One as the top performers. Motortrend, who was also at the test, will be declaring the Valentine One as the top detector based upon its detection of laser.

Radar Roy said, "There were results that they (Guys of Lidar) got during the test that I was not exactly pleased with, such as the discovery of the Blinder not having Stealth Mode installed and the Valentine beating out the Escort and Bel in the range tests. Even though I don’t sell the Valentine, it does have slightly better range than both the RX65 and the 8500 and I also show this same fact on my site. Would love it to be the other way around."
