I am trying to upgrade to a newer DVD version replacing the one that came with my 04 G35. Zenrin has two versions 6.4 and 7.1( this one for g35 06). has anyone upgraded their DVD to 7.1 version and have it work properly in their 03-05 models?

I heard you'll need to replace the dvd reader as well to get the newer cersion found on the 06 to work because there is a difference in hardware and I heard the screen was different too, higher in resolution. makes me glad I didn't get the 05 the dealer was trying to unload on me, 06 navi ftw.

 

7.1 does not work for 03-05... get 6.4

 

Exactly what he said. Version 6.x will work in any 2003-2005 Infiniti / Nissan Nav system. 7.x is for 2006+. The systems are not compatible at all. It's not just the reader either. It's the whole system. Version 6.4 is the newest release for 03-05 vehicles right now.

i work at infiniti and the 06 navi disk isn't just the dvd reader. its the whole navigation system that is changed.. the best thing is the 05 disk that is what alot of our customers get

 

So in order to make it work you would have to change the reader and the screen...or just the reader?

 

Since Zenrin is selling the 6.4 for a discounted $149 is anyone else here thinking that the 6.5 might be right around the corner? Has anyone heard anything?
