Forgot to add... in #1 above, you may need to do some soldering if you have dual-zone. If you don't have dual-zone, then yes, it's plug and play.

Thanks for all the help. I probably will not get the PAC, I don't care much for the steering wheel controls and could live without it.

If my installer has a problem with anything, is there a number he can call to get quick answers?? Or should I tell him to bring his laptop and have this stie handy??

PM Sent.

I found the PAC for sale on ebay, is this the correct one?

http://cgi.ebay.com/PAC-SWI-ECL-Eclipse-Steering-Wheel-Remote-Interface_W0QQitemZ9730301305QQcategoryZ12040QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
And where are the instructions on installation for the PAC?

Finally got the AVN 5500 installed!! I'm very pleased with the picture quality. The navigation is great, and my sound quality has improved 100%. I have only 2 problems with the install.

1) My installer forgot to install the PAC to keep my steering wheel controls.

2) The unit doesn't sit completely flush. Sticks out a hair, but still looks great.

I'll have pics up soon!!

Just wanted to say THANK YOU to everyone on this site who helped answer all of my questions!!

I'm finally done with cosmetics, now on to engine mods!! Where to begin??? HAHAHA

Congrats! I have the same unit and love it. In regards to your problems...

1) I would suggest getting it installed. I couldn't live w/out my steering wheel controls. ; )

2) There are many different configurations for mounting....in terms of the angle you can mount it at. Tell him to readjust that sucka.

Have you tried using the ipod unit with the 5500? The 6600 says "made for ipod" but I'm unaware of the differences between the two units when it comes to ipod integration.

any help?

I don't have an ipod so I can't help answer that question.

The only thing I really don't like about this 5500 is that I can't seem to get up the sub categories for the satellite radio. And it doesn't tell me who's playing on the other stations. So I have to go through them all until I find an artist I like. Also, I can't beleive there's only 6 presets for saved stations on this unit for Sirius.

I also had my installer take out my Dave Navone Line Out Converter (LOC). If anyone wants it, I'd sell it for $35 shipped?? I think I paid over $50 for it a few months ago.

I have the IPC-106 unit hooked up to my avn5500. Unfortunately; using the Sirius input only shows you artist/song text, and there is noway to search via artist/song except by alphabetical order. Therefore; I have to scroll through 300 + songs which can get old fast. Another way is by unplugging the IPOD; manually inputting the song on the IPOD itself; then plugging it back in. Then it plays the desired song. Doing it that way sucks though. I heard that the 6600 offers full IPOD control via the head unit. Meaning you can search by artist/song; and pretty much do everything you could do directly to the IPOD. 5500 offers really limited options; including random and repeat, and text display.

Thanks for that information. Sounds like the ipod is just using the Sirius input. So if I would like to use both, then I probably need the 6600 anyways.

TwixG35-- Where did you get your NAVI installed? I just purchased the Eclipse AVN6600 (w/ rear-view camera & iPod interface) but the company where I was going to get the bracket installed is on back order for 4-6 weeks. Is this a custom job, I was thinking of taking it to this place Car Toyz and getting them to hack away at the dash and install the unit.

you can get the dd finisher and a/c controller from j's garage in about two and a half weeks. i just had the 6600 installed with the ipod inteface and rear camera. don't need a cd changer because the ipod my ipod has 30 gigs of space. i've stored 2.5 gigs of music on there so far and can play 2 days of music without a repeat. only feature i wanted that the eclipse doesnt have is bluetooth. my installer never installed a stereo in a g before and had it done in a day.(a/c controller, finisher, jl 500/5, rear camera, ipod interface)

Does anyone have any pics of their aftermarket NAVI installed or know of any sites that have pics posted?

tons of pics all over this forum. avic-z1 and avic-d1 are pretty common, but you'll also find other Pioneer units and some Eclipse as well.
