XM Sat - LOADING

Ok, I got the XM Sat radio kit from Grubbs for my G35 Coupe and it was REALLY easy to install. Unit plugged right into my cars prewired harness in the trunk, one wired grounded the unit, mounted it to the supplied brackets, and then ran down the antenna and connected it to the unit.

I turn on the radio and select Sat. Instead of say No Sat, it now said XM Radio, then goes on to say Loading... and there my friends is my problem. Its been Loading for the past 3 hours. I drove the car around for about 30min, just says Loading. I let it sit for 10, 15, 20min, and nothing - Loading. No XM channel 1 preview, no nothing!

Anyone have or had this problem? Is it the unit? The antenna? Bad reception? It is cloudy and raining, but then again I have a Sony unit in my truck, and it works just fine. Its really pee'ing me off! Grubbs said to send it back and they'll replace it, but before I do, I just wanted to check in and see if this could be fixed...

PS: The units XM service had been activated for about 4 hours prior.

Thanks!

Where is your antenna located? I put mine on the rear deck and I get this loading problem sometimes. But not for 3 hours maybe for a couple minutes. It may be my antenna location but I have some concerns about the stability of the network.

I have the same problem and Carvey at Grubbs said he needed to swap out the unit. I think some of those early Clarion units (XM) have an issue and not all of them were caught before going out to the field.

I got mine from Grubbs in July and had that same problem only twice since then. But each time it worked normally again after completely turning off the ignition and taking the key out for a few minutes.

Re: XM Sat - LOADING

sometimes if i lose the signal i get the "loading" problem. it won't clear unless i turn off the ignition, but once doing so it functions fine. before sending your unit back i would wait for a clear day and place your car where the antenna has good southern exposure. if you don't receive the xm preview channels then something is not connected right or your unit is faulty. i would verify the connections especially the antenna connection. also be sure you did not crimp or cut the antenna wire during your installation. also, if more than 24 hours goes by after activation and your unit has not recieved the activation signal you may need to call to have them send it again. this will be useless however if you cannot at least receive the preview channels. good luck. let us know how it turns out.
