Ballanced Inputs- 6 pin din - any thoughts?

I'm running the stock head unit w/ MB Quartz' in the front powered by an Alpine "Flex 2" amp which I've tried with a Audio Control LOC and direct wired to the speaker level inputs. I'm powering my JL sub with a Hifonics mono amp. The Hifonics amp has ballanced inputs, but the input is for a 6 pin din, XLR or Mini, I'm not sure, but its the same as a mouse cable or an S video with a vertical small rect. plastic piece in the plug rather than the horozontal one in the s video plug.

I've cut off a mouse cable and have experimented with the wiring, but really need the pin assignment. Hifonics provides no info and I have searched for hours with no luck.

Any suggestions?

Also, I'm using the factory wiring. Is it worth the effort to run new speaker wire to the fronts?

Thanks for the input.

Someone else had this question, though I think it was regarding a different brand amp. El_duderino knows more info about these plugs(he's the one that answered the previous question). If I remember correctly, this plug is proprietary, and plugs into a propritary adapter unit or straight into a compatible HU. Either way, I think it was determined that it wasn't worth it to try and hack the interface. Dunno, maybe someone else will chime in.

Thanks for your input. I guess what I really need is an amp upgrade.

Using the balanced inputs decreases the chance of inducing unwanted noise in the cable run. I don't see the benefit for a sub amp. My Zapco uses the same 6-pin mini-DIN plug. Perhaps el_duderino will chime in here.
