I know the pioneer and eclipse is up there but there also the most $$$. How does the kenwood 6019 compare to these brands and does it have better pic. quality than the Kenwood 8017?

 

The D1/2, Z1, 6600, and Kenwood 6019 all have the same display specs, although the D1/2 and 6600 are just a bit smaller. I have the 6019 and I'm very satisfied with the picture quality for TV, DVD, and photos.

The older 5435 has slightly lower resolution.

 

What about the Alpine IWA-200? That one only has a 6.5" screen, but what about the quality?

And although manufacturer's specs state certain resolutions, does that mean picture quality is the same if the resolution specs are the same? Using home TVs and computer monitors as examples, the resolution specs are usually the same, but there is a clear difference in quality between manufacturers.

 

Agreed. Generally though, all the screens will be about the same. If you are driving, I don't think you will notice the difference, if any, in video quality, especially not with navigation. The only ones that really stand out are the old IVA-D900 and D901's, those are about 4x the resolution of today's screens, but they were not touch capable.

FWIW the IVA-W200 has the same resolution as the Eclipse 5435, slightly lower than the Kenwood 6019, Pioneer D1/Z1 and Eclipse 6600.
