I'm adding a JL 500/1 amp to the OEM Bose system and I'm having trouble using the signal sensing Turn On (allows amp to detect signal in pre-amp wire to turn on the unit). When I turn on the stereo, the amp doesn't turn on, but if I turn the Signal Sensing switch off, then on, the amp powers up.
Do you think that it's because the pre-amp input is too low a voltage? I spliced it in BEFORE the Bose amp. I guess the solution would be to install a turn-on line, but I'm too lazy to take my car apart again.

There is a SWITCH on the side of the amp that you have to switch to AUTO SENSING...inorder for it to work...
did you flick the switch to auto sensing??

Yeah, that's the switch I'm turning off, then on again. If I do this, it powers up the amp and works fine. However, if I turn off the engine and back on again, the amp does not detect the signal and does not turn on. To fix this, I open the trunk, turn off the signal sensing, and then back on again. Voila... it suddenly detects the signal and turns on.
BTW, I did not use a LOC.
Also, I saw in previous posts that the ACC turn-on lead going to the Bose amp was colored blue/silver. However, when I look at the diagrams, it looks like sky blue is the color of the wire I need (pin 31). I cannot find the blue/silver wire in any diagrams. Any thoughts?

When i used my autosensing feature for the JL i got lots of "feedback" when i turned off the car... a rumble sound....so i don't recommend it
I went back and used that remote wire that you mentioned from the bose amp and now it works fine
so use that remote wire....mine was blue/silver on the bose wireharness....

I coudn't find it either. There is a light blue wire with a few grey spots on it, so I spliced the wire up to it and Viola! Works fine.Originally Posted by dR6

allforthecash is right, if you use the Auto Sense the amp stays on for like 15 seconds after the car shuts off, and then THUMP when it shuts off.
also when you start the car, there is some delay on the turn-on... like 20 seconds or so... maybe you didn't wait long enough?

Cool, thanks guys. I went ahead and turned signal sensing off and spliced in the sky blue remote turn on wire. It works flawlessly!
Now I have to spend the entire weekend trying to tweak this thing. Who knew they're were that many ways to adjust a subwoofer amplifier! Right now, it sounds good, but I know it can sound better.

yes i totally forgot about that....when u start the car up...YOU have to turn the VOLUME UP to make the amp turn on...or else it takes forever to turn on....another reason to just do the remote wire turn on.....Originally Posted by SI_G35Coupe
