Some tracks website's calendars have "Open test" days. What are those? Some are broken-down by open-wheel and closed-wheel. What's that? (I tried googling, but couldn't find an explantation.)

 

Open test is often the Thursday or Friday before a race weekend so the guys running can get some extra setup time. If there are a lot of race cars out it would suck to be out there in a street car, expect to be dive bombed, run off the track or worse, heh.

If it's just some weekday and not many cars out it could be a good time to go out and run, just keep an eye on the mirror and get out of any race cars way.

Open wheel cars are F1 cars, Indy cars etc.
