What rims and tires do you guys use during autoX and tracking?

350Z track model setup
BBS RGR 18" Diamond Black 8.5 F, 9.5 R. Dunlop SP Super Sport Race 245/35-18 F, 265/35-18 R. These are the combo I use for summer driving and (road race) track day use.
The BBS are almost as light as the 18" Rays forged alloys that came with my car and look awesome to boot! As for the tires, they take a lap to come in, but are quite sticky after that. There are better R-compound tires out there (Kumho V710, Hoosier R3S05 or Michelin Pilot Sport Cups), but they are 2-3X as expensive as the Dunlops. Admittedly, the Super Sport Race are a discontinued model, but remain a bargain for fun track use. Another point in their favor is they have a 'gatorback' tread pattern with enough depth (6/32nds unshaved) that driving in the rain is not that big an issue.

No spacers required for these particular BBS for my 350Z. Whatever wheel you get, I don't recommend using spacers if you can help it. There are additional loads put on the wheel bearings of either the Z or G when you use them. Get the right offset and spacers are redundent.
I've never seen another Z (or G for that matter) using BBS RGRs with the Dunlop SS Race tires at any track event.

I think unless you have the HP and TQ to support 9.0 F and 10.0 R wheels, it's overkill. There's such a thing as having TOO much rubber on the road. Rolling resistance becomes a bigger tradeoff to cornering power.

you do not want to stagger that much. the car will handle more neutral with matched tires. i suggest a minimum of 245 width front, and 245 width rear. although i would probably go with a 265 rear, and a 255 front.
i don't think you need more then 265mm on the rear, esp with sticky tires, a better lsd, and/or good driving. the wider you go on the front end, the better all that weight will get supported in a corner. some people say you will lose delicacy to the steering, but i never noticed such.
i am guessing you are looking at 17 and 18 inch wheels. the most important thing is the diameter, offset, and width. make sure there are tires for the widths you choose. also make sure it will clear your brakes, or any bbk you plan on getting.
some good wheels... enkei's racing series... rpf1, rpf1rc, nt03+m, etc... 5zigen... fn01r-c (or r) mainly, volk 1-piece wheels
if your car is ivory pearl, i suggest a nice 18 inch rpf1 or rpf1rc in silver. very classy and simple, no flash, perfect for the track... keeps the attention low on the street.

also, there are many many tire choices that are out there. good non-r compound tires:
bfg gforce kd
bridgestone potenza
pirelli p zero (all varieties, esp corsa)
kumho mx
toyo t1r
michelin pilot sport
bridgestone s03
yoko neova ad07
and the list goes on and on
good r-compounds... toyo ra-1, kumho v700, v710, nitto nt01, avon tech r, michelin pilot sport cup, advan a048, a032... and the list goes on
you have to try tires, and see what you like, there is no magic formula... go with something tested and proven. tire choices for races and auto-x are published online. gradually go to stickier and stickier tires as your skill builds.
i don't suggest an r-compound if you street drive the car (unless you get track wheels). you will not get traction in the wet, or when the tires are cold.
