DIY: G35 Hood Damper by Caskyline

So even after I dremelled out the two areas (red arrows) where the shock had pushed the plastic down when the hood is closed, it appears that the shocks simply rest even lower at that point now, but I guess that means that there is less tension on the shocks than before. I also included a couple of pics of the hood mounting cover and how I modified it to fit around the NRG mounting bracket for a more OEM appearance.
The JDM battery cover for the left side seems to have some mounting issues when adding the shock to the left side. The JDM battery cover actually sits a little higher on this side than on the right side.

has anyone else had a probolem with these hood dampers being too stiff.....resulting in bend hood hinges?
I bought these NRG hood dampers a few years ago....when they first came out. Over time, they ended up bending my hood hinges due to the excessive force needed to close the hood now. Finally, after a couple years of this abuse on the hood hinges, my hood clearance between the hood and the fenders (up near the hinges) reduced to nothing........resulting in my hood catchon the corners of the fenders, bending them up like they were put in a can opener! :-(
Looks like I'm going to have to buy new hood hinges and have both fenders and the hood repaired and repainted.
Did NRG end up changing the valving/strength in these hood dampers from what the early ones were? or has this happened to anyone else?
