Reverse Light Help!!!
Reverse Light Help!!!
I have a 2004 g35 coupe. I bought led backup lights and now when I put my car in reverse I can't see behind me. I like the white bulbs rather than the regular halogens so I want to stay LED. I'm just wondering if there's a certain type of bulb I could buy to stay LED and have better visibility. I heard something about MTEC high power LED bulbs. Would those work? Or should I just get LED bulbs with as many leds on top as possible? Thanks for any help.
LED's are not intended to be a primary light source, not even for reverse lights. I have LEDs in my reverse lights, too. My trick is to lightly step on the brake and use the brake lights to light up the back. It's more than enough light for me.
In my experience most LED bulbs suck. They do not produce as much as you think they will. This is just my experience. I would build some reverse lights from LED's instead of the single bulbs you put in. I made custom led tails that had the backup lights on my galant with nine white leds on each side. Those things lit up everything. I dont think single led bulbs are worth it for reverse lights. But then again I haven't taken apart G tails yet either.
I would say superbrightleds.com's Luxeon LED bulbs. I have the mini wedge (168) and rear turn signal bulbs in my coupe....I can tell you for a fact they are noticably brighter than the stock bulbs without a doubt. I am ordering them today for my reverse lights. They aren't cheap, but once you install them, you will see why. About 2 month before I ordered these bulbs I had purchased some "Super bright" LED bulbs from a local shop. When I compared the light output, the Luxeon LEDs made the other LED bulbs look like nite lights.
