if your wheels don't have ANY rash, you should be fine with two cans of plasti dip. I got Two wheels out of 1 can. They had 3 coats.
I needed a third can because i had to put 4 coats on to one of the wheels. Three is the maximum. But again, I used 2 coats of wheel paint. If you're just going to paint the wheels with plasti dip ONLY. I'd recommend 4 coats of plasti dip, and 2 or 3 coats of clear coat for protection.

Again, i don't use any chemical washes, or high pressure washes. I'm pretty good to my wheels.

Just so you guys know, there is a website out there with great tutorials; It also has a great product section that sells more than just black plasti dip. It is all the same brand plasti dip stuff they sell at home depot. They make gold and silver metalizers that can be mixed and matched to whatever look, and becasue its still plasti dip it will peel off easier than painting over the dip. Just google "dip your car." The site is dedicated purely for automotive plasti dipping, so they have everything. One huge positive is that the prices match those at home depot or whatever hardware store.
I know you like the look of the paint because it looks fantastic but if you want an easier route to removal, with the same great look, check that site out. I don't think many people have heard of it
cheers
