mustang 5 excellent write up. Unfortunately now that our cars are over 10 years old finding parts that are compatible is becoming a hassle. I did a quick ebay search and found these and couldn't believe the price (Amazon also have very similar price)

Ebay says compatible while Amazon says not compatible.
What do you think? Looking to replace bearings on my 2004 G35X

That's a front bearing assembly for a RWD car. There's nowhere to pass the axle shaft through the middle of.

yeoo stang... I'm looking for a hub/bearing assembly. You know if the 2005 FX35 hub/bearing assembly will fit on our cars? I'm not finding anything for less than $350 including hub and bearing which is ridiculous... I'm trying to avoid pressing mid job to save time because I'm getting a hand from another member on Saturday and also I don't trust my hub anymore. Let me know.

Edit: Ebay has tons right now. I will see if they can get me one before Saturday because the prices are right. Hopefully they aren't shiz cuz I plan to go fast

The FX35 has a larger hub, it's not compatible with G35 platform.

I went with OEM for both... Just shy of $300. Averaging 30k miles per bearing (conservative for me), and considering there are four... We pay almost $.05 per mile in hubs/bearings alone lol.

Have you checked these out yet? God forbid you need to but...

MFG part # 513311 061-4262 BM50013 for when ebay link breaks

$130 for hub and bearing, pressed. Seems too good to be OEM quality........

I think I need to change both fronts again. Got 100K on one of them, and 50K on the other.

If I get this thing going for a while without spending $ to fix it I'm going to see if I can throw RWD hubs and bearings in... These AWD ones are too problematic. I thought it was just me. Maybe somebody can chime in to tell us how long the $130 hub and bearing on eBay lasts.

Eh, as much as it sucks, once you've changed out one bearing, it's pretty easy and you should have the tools to do it again.

New bearing is $100 and I've been reusing hubs (NEW ones still caused the bearings to fail too so why bother) and I can do it in maybe 3 hrs now.

I've mentioned it a few times here, but most of the bearing fails I've seen on my car have been galling due to heat. Always debating disassembling a bearing and chaning out the grease to a much higher quality high temp grease. BUT, then I get lasy and just slap the bearing in and kick the can down the road.

Well back to replacing my left front bearing again. As most know this is an excellent thread for info. Saw one of my posts mentioned and reminded me of how i actually removed bearing without a press.
-
"There is a way without having to press out old bearing. Just remove assembly as shown and place between boards or small hobby vise. Next reinsert bearing module screws several turns to engage. Then place only socket over bolts and systematically tap each one in a criss-cross pattern. Bearing will come loose and drop out. You dont need a slide hammer or press to do this job."

A little ingenuity goes a long way.

That's how I've done my subsequent bearings since the initial DIY write-up. No need for the press at all once you've pressed the hub in the bearing. I was able to tap out all the bearings by striking the bolts ina criss-cross pattern from the backside.

One thing I do though is use a small aluminum bar on the bolt heads, and hit that bar with my hammer. That way the soft AL does not damage the bolt heads.

A little PB blaster, and work around with some firm hits and it breaks loose pretty easily. So pretty much if you source a hub and bearing and find someone to press them together for you, you can do this entire job in the driveway without the press.

This ebay seller is selling OEM bearings for 106 each. Not sure if you've tried those or not. I'm installing a set as we speak.
