G35x brakes

Hey Everyone,

I've about had it with the brakes on my 05 X. The squeeling noise (apparently a common problem from what I've seen on this board) is annoying and worst of all... it's embarassing. I've taken it to 3 different dealerships and the most they did was clean the brakes with some solution but the noise comes back in a couple of days.

Anyways, my question is; has anyone here replaced the brakes on a 05 G35x with better brakes? if so, what did you replace them with?

I'm not an expert on car parts so any help would be appreicated.

Thanks.

My dealer was actually cool about the whole thing. I told him how the 05 X got jiped on the 05 brake upgrade. I had 12,000 miles on the car and the brakes were noisy. They put on new rotors and pads for the front. I have a thread about it. But they are just as dirty and will probabally get loud sooner then not. The 05 X can use all the brake parts from 03-04 G's.

When you guys said loud squeak, how loud are we talking about? My 05x has a little over 10k miles and I don't get the loud squeaks you guys are talking about. Maybe when pulling out from garage in the beginning (since it's in an enclosed area). Once I start driving it seems fine.

I have 15000 miles on my 05x and started noticing a squeak about 2000 miles ago. also, my brake pads are pretty thin for a car with such low miles. Does any one have a good fix for this other then dropping some serious cash on new brakes?

I mean loud squeaks. Like very noticeable and to the point where its embarasing. They dont squeak when I first start driving but once they get warmed up they start. The longer I drive the louder they squeak. They squeak when I have to gradually stop. If I step on the brakes hard they dont squeak.

I have an '05 G35x. At 13k, I just got my brakes replaced today. The sound it was making was a high-pitched squealing noise. I'd call it more annoying than embarrassing or loud. They were actually very nice about it, and said my warranty covered the "update."

Luckymonkey, what did you need to get these replaced under warranty? I just purchased a 05 G35x with 19,000 miles on it and the brakes started squealing. I brought it into the dealer and they said the brakes are fine and it was probably due to brake dust. That same day, they started squealing again.

Be careful with BBKs as well.
I have an S2000 with full Stoptech BBK. In general, track-prepped brakes are not always quiet. They compromise comfort for performance, just like most aftermarket car parts.
Now the OEM Brembos on MT Coupes 03-05 might be different, as those are not a "real" track BBK. *flame suit on*
Heck.. Maybe it's just Stoptechs that are like that. Anyway, research your BBK before you buy it if you are buying it mainly for the noise control.

I'm with you Bobby, I have not heard a peep from my 05 X brakes, they work fantastic, are quiet, and have worked superb in a couple of emergency situations. On the other hand the front brakes do end up putting a lot of brake dust on the front. I have somewhat cured the dusting problem by using Wheelwax, it is not nearly as bad anymore. I have over 25,000 miles on my brakes now. In 2 weeks I am having the brake system serviced but that is for a flush and refill, I have been getting good service other than dusting from the pads. It would have been nice to get the larger brakes like the 06's to cure that problem.

Has anyone with the "X" that has this brake problem changed their pads? I was wondering if that would help until I got my BBK.

i have 13,000 Miles and my brakes have been sqeeking and such for the past 3k miles... It annoying and embarassing. So, I brought it to the dealership and turns out i have 20% left on my front brakes and the rears are perfect.?

They todl me the rotors are too thin to be resurfaced?

After onyl 13,000 Miles. and im not that hard on my brakes, at all!!!

I'm not to happy but i guess at this point to have the dealership put on the same ****ty OEM rotors and Pads would be a bad choice.

So,

as im sure most of you are thinking abotu upgrades, I too think i want to replace my rotors ...

I called Grubbs Performance Infiniti grubbsperformance.com (great website) and they have Stillin (Xd Slotted and Drilled) Rotors and HAWK HPS pads for 360$

do you think im doing the right thing?

hi gman1076,

I didn't have to do anything. The service dept. manager told me all this over the phone, and when I picked it up, I saw the bill for the brakes replacement, with $0 at the bottom.
