caliper clamping question

What is the reason for replacing the stock calipers? Is their clamping force not suffiecient to take advantage of the larger rotors? Or is the weight the defining factor. I am trying to decided if I should get only rotors and pads instead of a full kit. Thanks

Basically, people want bigger calipers for bigger or more pistons which = more stopping force. It also means bigger rotors which also translate to more surface area to disappate heat and help it stop. The G is heavy, so bigger brakes are nice when you make more power, i.e. supercharger/turbo or heavy N/A work. Or .if you're doing track duty offten.
