Tire and wheel question?

I have a question about the gap on my car. I use to have the OEM 19 inch with 225/40R19 fronts and 245/40R19 Y-rated rears but just purchased a nice new set of 18 inch wheels that have tires at 225/45ZR18 fronts 245/45ZR18 rears. From the looks, my car has a wider gap between the tires and fender, is this just an illusion? Also is there a difference between 45R18 vs 45ZR18?

well you only raised your tire sidewall by 5 mm and you decreased your rim size by 1 inch... 5mm = 0.19685 inch so ya its gonna be a bigger gap i would believe... and the difference between R and ZR is speed raiting i believe

what does this info have to do with having a bigger gap from your tire to fender?

I went from having OEM 19 inch to aftermarket 18 inch and noticed a bigger gap, the dealer who installed them said there wouldnt be any differences. The above stats came from the dealer, so I dont why im seeing a gap.

Stock

Aftermarket

Well im taking it back to the dealer, they said its the same setup, wont affect speed and/or power. The info they got was from some wheel offsizing book and all the dealer does is wheels, tires and suspension. I got that listing from http://www.6mt.net/specs-05-coupe.php

do you get what im saying though.. you decreased your rim by 1 inch and only increased your tire by 5mm and 5mm is way smaller than 1 inch... so your gonna have that much more of a gap

Yeah I got your point there, but do the G35's with 18's have this gap if so I'll be looking for a drop soon.
