got everything off (wheel, caliper, rotor), but i need to take off the wheel stud hub before i can take the broken wheel stud out, but i don't know what size bolt that is (huge black bolt with the safety pin right in the middle of the hub)...

does anyone know? thanks.

 

Guess off the top of my head is 36mm if you are talking about the axle nut.
They are generally either 32 or 36mm.

Is this front? Is there no access to the backside to install the new stud?
You know how to install studs right?

 

talking about the rear ones...
it doesn't look like there's enough room for me to take the broken one out and put a new one in there...i've never changed studs before...just going by what i see. any input would be helpful! thanks.

 

You dont take the axel nut off, no need to.

Just pound out the stud, and use a bunch of washers as spacers on the new stud and torque down a lug nut till it pops into place. good luck

 

Ah, I was thinking front.
If you have the rotor off you should be able to see the backside of the stud. Usually you can just **** the stud at an angle and get it in the whole.
I am sure you are aware that a hammer is all you need to remove the broken stud. Then just put the new one in from the backside and pull it into place with a spare lug nut. Don't use your pretty chrome ones.

 

awesome...i'm going to try tomorrow. it's just that when you look at the back side of the stud, it doesn't look like there's enough room for the stud to come out of.

 

it will, it needs to be angled if i remember correctly.
