The stock brembo is not as good as those on the evo or sti.

I definitely don't have the Brembo's, and its an AT. I guess I'm leaning towards Brembo Xdrilled and Slotted rotors with HPS Brake Pads. Whaddya think?

 

Aren't the 03-04 without the Brembos come with like 40K mile warranty? Since they have excessive wear, right?

 

I know that at one time Infiniti was doing your first brake pad replacement for free as a gesture of good will. I dunno if that's the case anymore though. Either way, if he goes with the Brembo xd/s rotors and Hawk pads, he ought to be fine for quite awhile (as he should be for what it will cost).

 

Wow. On your original pads and rotors? I just got my '04 w/ 36K on the Brembos. They probably are original but they feel like they are brand new. Would the Orlando dealership put new pads on it to sell on the lot?

When the time does come, are there any slotted rotors that fit the Brembos?

 

So I'm going with the Brembo rotors and Hawk pads for the standard braking system on an 03 G35 5AT.

Hold on, can I even get rotors from Brembo if I don't have the factory Brembo package???

 

Always consider that even the whimpy oem braking system has more than 2 times the horsepower of the engine...........accelerating 0>60=~ 6 sec and braking from 60 takes 3 secs. It takes 1280 feet to accelerate to 100 mph yet you can stop in ~~366 feet from the same speed in 5 secs.

Without cooling the oem brakes are done [overheated] after 10-12 seconds of continuous max application whereas the engine has a radiator.

 

I just put the ArizonaZCar Wilwood BBK on my front and replaced the rears with Stillen slotted rotors and metal matrix pads plus StopTech SS rear brake lines. Way better than stock!

 

So by OEM do you mean the Brembos or Infiniti's base brake system? And what cooling method do you think is best? XD? Slotted? Both? Neither?

 

I started a seperate post for this, but have any of you guys had experience with iRotors? I had a friend who was a Subaru tuner and swore by them

 

With regards to the special Infiniti Brake Warranty, I am not sure how it applies to the 03s, likely the same as the 04.

On my 04, I have 20K miles. The front pads (and turning the front rotors if needed) are covered for 3 years or 36K miles.
I had mine checked at 19K miles and the wear was 5mm. The wear limilt is 3 mm. On Oct. 24th I reach the 3 year mark, so if they have not worn down another 2mm by then, no replacement. Although the service mgr. said they replaced some that were not quite 'there'. They were kind enough to put a reminder sticker on my windshiled with the measurement and date of this last check.

Of course I would be foolish not take advantage of this even though there is brake hardware out there I would rather use than more stock Infiniti parts.

But the brakes seem fine for the time being, other than getting the rims very dirty, but I look forward to an upgrade in the future. Now, to get more wear on them!
