Squeaky brakes
Squeaky brakes
I've been having squeaky breaks - I think they're squeaking in the front. I've also had a lot of break dust on the front wheels but not the rear. Has anybody else had this problem and have you successfully fixed it?
Re: Squeaky brakes
I've noticed the squeal on the brakes too. I only have less than 100 miles on my car since I just bought it earlier this week. I'm gonna ignore it for know and see if it goes away after I put more miles on the car.

Re: Squeaky brakes
First I would go out and wash the car and the brake dust build up is normal for these brakes cause they are so soft (which gives you the performance)

as for the brake dust get used to it, when i need new pads for my coupe i am going to look into getting raybestos quite stops, ther are made from a porceline compound and they barely make any dust at all, i had the on my t-bird in the front and the front rims stayed just as clean as the back. as for the squeaking, mine do squeak a little when they are cold.
Re: Squeaky brakes
I was told that if you break hard before the pads get a chance to break in they will get too hot and glaze which hardens the surface of the pad. Then when you apply the breaks the hard surface of the pad squeaks against the metal rotor. What really sucks is that once this happens the pads always heat up more than normal and continues to glaze which will never go away until you change out the pads. Anyway that is what I was told. I am really lucky because I have 4K on my G and they do not squeak.
Re: Squeaky brakes
I get a little squeaking from the rear brakes only when they are cold. And yes, very heavy dusting of the front wheels and a little on the rears. When I had it in for service they told me this was normal. I get heavier brake dust on my other two vehicles front wheels as well, but just not as much as on the G.

Re: Squeaky brakes
Brake squeal is mostly a function of the pad vibrating against the calpier when in use. Brake dust makes this worst as it acts as a lubricant for the vibration process. Try cleaning your wheels with Eagle 1's AtoZ wheel cleaner.Spray a good dose over the entire rim(some will get on the roter and caliper)let it sit for about 45seconds and spray off until no white foamy crap can be seen. If that does not work try using some disk brake quite on the back of the pads. This semi glues the pad to the piston. Your fronts are more dirty because auto manufactures tend to put the stopping duty(Brake Bias) to the front brakes. This keeps you from slidding the rear of the car under braking. Too much rear brake bias and the car becomes dangerous unless you're stopping in a totally straight line.Picture making a hard stop at the top of a curved off ramp. A car with a heavy rear brake bias will end up sideways.

Re: Squeaky brakes
I had both sets of pads squeeking on my G35 for 6 months now. I had the dealer replace both sets at no charge. There is a memo going around from Infiniti corporate that the service advisor should tell people this is a normal sound for the performance pads, what BS!!
