Red face My Eibach Prokit springs are too stiff!

Old setup: Tein 350z htech with Tokico D-spec DSP-9's on my G35 coupe.

I wanted a bit more of a drop so:

New setup: Used Eibach Prokit springs (bought used for about 5000km prior to me installing)

The ride is BRUTAL. No one wants to ride as passenger anymore I've really scared everyone away, girlfriend included. I've adjusted my shocks 6 turns from full hard and it's still pretty intolerable. Nothing like my comfy Tein htechs. The wierd part is while the sticky says it's 35% harder at the rear...i'm feeling the pain when the front goes over bumps...not the rear

First inclination is that this is how it's supposed to be. But all the comments (and I've searched a LOT here) say it's close to stock ride

I love the drop...but at this rate I'm aching to swap back to my teins. What's wrong??? Suggestions?

PS: I noticed a number on the front spring that is NOT the eibach prokit part number for G35 (which according to eibach website is part# 6365). Can someone check their prokit springs at the front and tell me what number they see? Just making sure.....

It doesn't sound like you got the right kit. Never heard of anyone complaining about the prokit being so harsh. You probably got something else since Eibach's part number is different.

Cool

Something doesn't sound right.....

The Eibachs are progressive and almost too soft for my taste until you really push the car.

I just got my springs yesterday, the part numbers are as follows:

front spring: 6365.001
rear spring: 6365.002

the part number for the kit is 6365.140

Will keep you guys updated...going to compare the numbers on my springs with what ryanwiggum gave me. I recall though that it was NOT 6365...which would explain a lot. Thanks ryanwiggum.

I have the prokits and d-specs, both are g35 coupe versions.

I have mine 3 turns from full hard. The drop is perfect but the springs are way too soft. I am actually switching out to something stiffer with linear spring rates.

Is the drop amount correct?

What part number do you have on your front Eibachs, you've mentioned that it's not the correct G35 coupe part number, but what number DO you see?

Drop looks ok...thought impossible to tell for sure if it's the "correct" drop. Looks about an inch.

Ok just checked....my front spring part # looks to be 6365.001. So that's right. I dunno what the problem is All i know is I am ready to put my tein back on.

Only other thing I can think of is my d-specs are no longer working...because honestly I have turned it 7 turns from full hard, and i don't feel much dampening happening at all. Still a very hard ride. But it was fine with the teins!!! So what gives

I forgot to mention, I have Kinetix a-arms up front too. Installed it same time I put on the eibachs. I wonder if these have something to do with it. Could it be possible that the arms are stopping the suspension to fully go down and up somehow?

I put on my Eibach springs a month or two before my Kinetix camber kit. When the camber kit went on, I noticed a definite thump coming from the front right when I went over a bump. I bet it is the camber kit causing your trouble not the springs. My "thump" has gone away over time, but I would like to know what that was all about.

I don't have personal experience with the kinetix arms, but with my old prelude, adding a camber kit on the front caused the arm to bottom out onto the inner fenderwell since there wasn't much suspension clearance. Some people even punch holes through into there engine basy from the camber kits so it is possible you are bottoming out your camber kit which would cause the very harsh feeling over bumps etc.

You guys guessed right. Took it back to mechanic yesterday, found out the ball joint of kinetix arm sits a half inch taller than stock arm...thus hitting the inside frame of car. Major scratches/dents on the inside indicate this. It is preventing full suspension from travelling. So that's the problem.

I have since put my stock arms back on. Very pissed at Kinetix for giving me such a poor product. Have they even test fitted??? THere is NO way I can get these A-arms to fit without it banging....mechanic confirmed this. Only way is to screw in the arms deep into the fender but then that's not much room for camber adjustment anymore. I'm going to call them tomorrow and see what they say.

Thanks for all suggestions. Glad it wasn't my prokit at least.
