New brakes making a grinding feeling

I've got an 06 coupe with 5,000 miles. After about 1 week from purchase the brakes started making a subtle grinding noise/feeling during normal braking. I feel it right before coming to a complete stop, or about 10 to 0 MPH. It feels like it's coming from the front wheels. Rotors feel smooth to my finger on both sides.

If you've ever had pads that wore out and started scoring the rotors and then replaced only the pads without turning the rotors, you'll know the type of grinding feeling when applying the brakes that I'm talking about.

I'll tell the dealer about it next time I take it in, but does anyone have any idea what it is?

Hard to feel 0.0028" with fingers...........that is the rotor warp spec.
I like to keep them below 0.001"
The rotor smoothness is measured in RA units. Most people can't look at a finish and tell if it is 20 RA or 100 RA.

If the rotors are out of spec, should I ask for new rotors or let them turn them? I don't know how many times the rotors can be turned before needing to be replaced, but would it be fair if they turned them as this problem started after only <500 miles?

I think he may be referring more to how deep the scoring is...usually warpage can be felt through the pedal. Although I am always in favor of lighly dressing the rotor surface, even if it is in factory spec, but installing new pads.
What are your thoughts on that?

Sounds like your pads are extremely glazed over. You bought the car WITH 5,000 miles, or just have 5,000 miles on it now?

If you bought it that way, the thing was probably driven pretty hard. The dealer will likely not find or do much without severe squealing or rotor scoring.
