Rear wheel camber.

Anyone notice the rear wheel camber is very aggressive (looking)? At least it is on mine. The pic shows the 'level' touching the tire at the floor and about an inch away at the top. I don't know the camber specs or how this should appear. ANYONE???

Re: Rear wheel camber.

Picked up my new ride Saturday afternoon (pix at http://public.fotki.com/duiguy/g35c). Had to drive over an hour to pick it up so my brother rode with me to drive my other car back. On the way back, I pulled over and let my brother drive the G35C so I could see what it really looked like. I noticed the camber too. Glad to know I'm not the only one.

Re: Rear wheel camber.

Hey lawman, Only a few miles on it but not bad eh? A little 'smaller inside compared to the Sedan (and I suppose the Acura) but once that grows on you, the ride and handling is a treat. Has it warmed up there for you to drive much? Not here! Today it's 'up' to -12-C: not so conducive to happy motoring.LOL.....:P) Did you pick up in Jacksonville or somewhere closer to Atlanta?
Hey I thought of a perfect 'mate' for the Coupe: A 'Maybach'
might look good next to the Coupe altho at that 'Altitude' even your job might require a little O/T! hahaha.
Can you see the 'lean' of the wheel from the pic I posted? From vertical, it's leaning about 1.25". None of my other cars had this, tho none have been quite so nice (or sporty). Reminds me of the old 'Vettes in the 60's..............
Thanks for posting, and Enjoy....................

Re: Rear wheel camber.

The 3 series BMWs when lowered have a similar look to them, some say it lends to better cornering. Personally I like the look as long as it's not too 'squatty'.
Looks like your "G" needs a wash.

Re: Rear wheel camber.

Darn digital camera picks up everything doesn't it. haha
Whole city needs "a wash" but now that you mention it, D/G doesn' show the dirt very much. I usually put my 'baby' away at least rinsed off if not clean. Lately it's been too cold even to rinse. With the 17's on I think it's car-wash time. EEEEEEEK
I like that camber. makes it look meaner.
Thanks for moving the Thread.
What's the URL for Shop manuals etc etc? I've lost it. Thanks.........

Re: Rear wheel camber.

Yeah, I noticed the snow in your "Rides" pics. That's one reason I live in Florida, would HATE driving my "G" in that crap.
Here is the URL, http://www.nissan-techinfo.com/. Maybe you can get something going with the coupe guys without Inifiniti finding out.
No probs in moving the thread.

Thanks for the 'vote of confidence'. I guess b4 I answer deffinitively, I should understand the responsibilities of 'Moderator'. From what I understand so far, it involves a lot of time at the site reading posts, along with helping, prompting, directing, whipping (J/K) and some 'stuff' I'm not aware of. I really enjoy the site, the format, the ppl and the comradeship. What you may not know is that my 'expertise' on computing extends as far back as 10 Months! So not sure how much help I could be --- altho willing..and learning fast .................
Why don't you send a brief on 'MODERATING' and we'll go from there....
Thanks for the interest..

Re: Rear wheel camber.

Yes, you are correct. I got a quick lesson on this when I went to put on a set of Eibach Performance Springs. I ended up talking with an Engineer who told me that the setting is already aggressive from the factory and that plays a big part in the handling of the car. If you put on their spring kit you will be close to being out of spec and they recommend a camber kit to futher adjust this to avoid premature wearing of the tires. Before I installed the kit my tech showed me the camber measurements on the car and it was noticable once you know what to look for. Have you noticed any premature tire wear due to this?

Re: Rear wheel camber.

Before my Acura, I had a turbocharged talon for 6 years so I'm kinda used to being cooped up.

Hard to tell from your picture that the camber is so extreme, but I know what you're talking about.

Re: Rear wheel camber.

That's interesting about spring mods and the already aggressive camber. HMMMMMMM. Switching out springs is more involved than you'd think in this case.
Camber adjustments? Can be done easily? Or as part of wheel alignment?
Only 200 miles on car so far but have measured the tread depths in and out and will monitor the wear pattern.

Yeah, gsedanman gets my vote as well for moderator. Good head on his shoulders, a quick learner despite his age (mind you, he keeps getting younger!), and seems to have a lot of time on his hands.

Re: Rear wheel camber.

Yup, I noticed the camber. I actually just posted something about it yesterday I think.

I was fallowing my wife and I noticed the rear wheels butterfly. I've looked at the tire wear before and saw that the dirt line was more towards the inside.

I think it's already about 2degrees? If you lower the car more it would definately butterfly more. I spent so much on my past cars to get the tires to last longer. My civic ate up tires every 4 months. It was fun taking corners, but not fun when I got the tire bill.
