Solution to 350z h-tech rear drop problem

I picked up a set of 350z h-techs a while back, but didn't get around to installing them till now, but recently there has been alot of people with issues with the rear drop not being even with the front drop. There have been suggestions to cut the rubber upper spring mount to get the drop even. I did just that this weekend following borahatch's advice to use a hacksaw and a c-clamp for support. I trimmed 1/2" off the support, and ended up with a drop from the stock 2 finger gap to less than 1 finger gap, the tire is now almost even with the fender.

There was a noticeable camber difference in the rear, and I think may require a camber/toe kit for the rear. I'll let it settle some more before I get it aligned and then i'll know if i need the spc camber/toe kit or not.

Haven't installed the front yet because it started to rain, and i ran out of time, so i'll post the results once I get the front on to show how even the drop is.

wow you will definitely need a camber kit for that! your tires will be gone quick if you don't.

How bad is the camber in the front? You might need front and rear camber correcting equipment.

this camber may be able to be resolved with an alignment and doesn't necessarily need a camber kit...the OP would have to reply to let us all know the outcome. I agree it is confusing, there's multiple long threads out there about this issue and there are as many out there that have said "no camber kit needed with 350Z H-Techs" as there are those who have said the opposite.

camber kit was not necessary for me on doing a regular drop with 350z h-techs. The original poster cut the support which dropped it even further and from the looks will most likely need a camber kit. if not i will be very surprised.

His drop is definately more than the normal 350z H-techs. Personally, I would of waited until the springs settle before cutting anything. They don't settle much but now you might be looking at a slight tucked look for the rears once everything settles out. Definately will need camber kits since it looks lower than S-tech springs now.

I think a lot has to do with where the camber was orifinally set at the factory. If there wasn't much adjustment left when it left the factory, then there isn't much you can do but get a camber kit when you drop it.

so only if you cut the extra 1/2 inch off you'll most likely need a camber kit?

pics were before alignment, I've had them on the car for over a month now, and its settled to an even drop all around. I think it looks even front to back now, and I've got the eibach rear camber kit on the way. The rear kit is relatively cheap, so I don't know why people worry about rear camber.
