Need new wheels: Fitment Problem...
I bent one of my rear SSR 18 x 9 GT1 wheels when I hit debris in the road. Unfortunately, the SSR GT1 is a discontinued style, and no longer available. I love these wheels. Dang Memphis roads!
So I bought a new set of OZ Galileo III's, and... they didn't fit over my AP Racing/Stillen BBKs. The spokes contacted the calipers. After checking my brake caliper profiles against their wheel profiles, the Tire Rack informed me they only have one size/style wheel that will fit over my BBKs, another OZ wheel sized 18 x 8. I forget which one it is, but I don't like the looks of it.
Moreover, I have a staggered set-up now, 18 x 8 in front and 18 x 9 in back. My tires are 225/45/18 and 255/40/18 respectively. Obviously, 18 x 8's all around ain't helping. My tires are virtually brand-new, too.
This is NOT what I wanted to hear from the Tire Rack! I have been buying tires and wheels from them for almost a decade, and I've never had a fitment issue. For example, I had my BBKs on the car when I bought the SSR GT1s from them back in 2002. They have already agreed to take back the wheels they just sold me. They will issue credit for all I paid, less freight. Walt at the Tire Rack has always been helpful, but he's coming up short this time.
I can't believe aftermarket wheel makers have not considered the possibility of aftermarket BBKs! Surely there must be hundreds of quality wheel brands and styles available that will fit my application. I am stunned: The Tire Rack only has one style/size wheel that will fit over my brakes, but it's not available in 18 x 9 to fit my rear tires.
I don't mind spending top dollar for good quality wheels. Forgings are what I'm looking for: light-weight, strong, and good looking. I don't like painted wheels, rather, I'm looking for polished aluminum alloy wheels.
Any suggestions?
Thank you.

If you are looking for a multi piece wheel, even if it is fully forged, it will still not be that light. If you want the lightest wheel possible, it is better to go with a one piece wheel. FYI - VOLK 2 piece wheels have a forged barrel with a cast face, theyre decently light considering they are 2 piece.
