once again.offset question for a G35 sedan

will a +31 work? 19x9 +31

rear 19x10 +37

absolutely will not even come close to working. if you want to run a 9" in the front you'll need atleast a +40 but it might come close to hitting the suspension if you dont use a stretched tire (235/35/19) and in the rear, you'll need a +45 and a fender roll. If you plan on running 9's up front you better have alot of negative camber.

For the front on a sedan, a 9" wide rim on 35mm to 38mm should be fine as long as you don't go taller then oem tire rolling diameter with a maximum width of 255. I have been running 18x8 on 35mm (courtesty of 10mm spacers in the front) with 255/40-18 In the picture below, notice the tire to suspension upright clearance.


looking up, the tire's outside edge camber's inward on compression and does not touch.


I did do a fitment test where I installed my rear tire setup onto the front, 265/40-18 same rim 35mm effective offset. Tire clearance to the suspension upright is about 5mm. However the tire does not clear the front fender lip. With shorter tire like 265/35-18 or 265/40-17 and a little more offset, 38mm
or maybe 40mm a 265 wide tire should clear.

In the rear, 9" or 9.5" with 45mm offset would be the best bet to allow up to 275 wide rears.

well i have this one company wanting to sell me some wheels with a +44 and +45 offsets

19x9 +44
19x10 +45

so im not sure if i want to take the risk of buyin these and then havin rubbin issues again

i dont think +44 in the front would fit, you might need a 5mm spacer, the +45 in the rear will definitely fit.

PM member 'Chico' and ask him if they'll fit with those offsets, he'll know 100% if they will or not.

Gsedan35's post should already answer your question about the front wheels. The rears will fit fine with that size and offset. Chico is also a great source for info on wheel fitment for our sedans.

I can tell you that 20" +40 all around, 8.5"F and 10"R will fit. You will have to roll your rear fenders.

That's what I have with a 1.3"/1.2" drop.

Yes but Chico also says my front combo will rub on the inside but it rubs on the outside.

please forgive me for getting the spot wrong. I suspected it was the inside getting hit, as it is the most likely spot due to the +40 offset. It is also possible that the outside is getting hit because of your alignment and suspension set up, hence the change of your turning radius. And yes...I am not perfect.

We all have to remember that when we push the extream's on front tire width's that tire height becomes VERY important. To the extent that going shorter then oem rolling diameter, buy's you clearance from the suspension upright and the fender lip. Go taller then oem and it will have the opposite effect.

Thing I"m realizing, I may be able to pull off a 265mm front, but I may not be able to dial in more negitive front camber when I want to because I pull the tire inward as far as possilbe to clear the fender lip. Not sure 265 will be worth it if I can optimize camber.

I'm going to do another fitment test, this time I'll pull the coilover assembly off and disconnect the sway bar so I can get the tire and wheel as far as possible into the wheel well, then I'll turn the wheel side to side and see clearances for sure to the fender lip. Try as I might when I used a floor jack to try and push the wheel up into the fender I could not get it close. Spring stiffness and swaybar stiffness kept me from succeeding.

Jim, OT question here but what made you change from your custom Koni setup to the Megans? I remember reading a review of yours before saying that the Megans weren't valved to your liking. Have they changed their valving or did you do something different?

The Koni setup was valved better, but I didn't have enough front bump travel with them, and that's in spite of the spring rates I was running. I won't be keeping the Megan's, but in the mean time they do give me the overall stiffness I like and because they have full height adjustable, bump travel is a non issue. I'm waiting for Stance to come out with their new 3-way adjustable coilover. I guess plan b is to buy D-specs and Tom Motorsport coilovers and see if turning up the shocks with more compression dampning will keep me off the bump stops.
