Autocross springs

All I read is how much do "X" springs lower the car. What is a good spring for autocrossing???

Not anything that is made for the G35. And even when you look at 350Z based springs, their really isn't a clear got to have offering. The usual choices are Hotchkis, RSR, Swift, anything linear with decent spring rates over oem. You may fair a lot better with adding sway's, better tires and working on your driver skills. Also, go to the autocross section on my350Z.com to get a idea on what setups people use their.

Start with sway bars. G35 springs are already fairly stiff, your ride will be much worse, but you won't get much benefit on autox.
I have (supposedly) softer than stock springs and totally happy with them for autox and track.

I love my Hotchkis springs with the linear rates.

Sway bar's are ment to fine tune a already well sorted chassies whose owner has started by setting the spring rates first. Carrol Smith has many books on the subject of tuning, one author among many on the subject. This does not include those that are bound by class rules where they are forbiden to change certain fundimental's, except to one universal fact that bind's anyone looking for better handling. You must be willing to make changes in a effort to prove your choosen setup moved in a postive direction or is you slid backwards.

I have tested the following spring rates rates

283/342
314/342 (oem)
314/375
314/427
358/342
358/375
358/427
448/427
448/375
448/427 (worked well, Koni shocks did not have suffecient bump travel)
560/448
560/427 (best overall dynamics and grip thus far)

Would like to try
672/448

I got you up to the 314/427 springs. It seems like the 358/427 would be a good compromise for a street/track car.

Who makes these springs, the 358/427? What kind of drop am I looking at? How do they work with the Koni's or Tokico's?

I guess SCC guys didn't ready any books. It's been posted few times.

ONLY suspension "tuning" they did is sway bars(on 350Z).
Keep it simple, man, it is autox and not JTCC.

Yeah it's been discussed before. That's an old article. They hit 1.0g on a skidpad and that's cool and all, but remember that they set out to make it slide easier. A year later they put it up against some other cars at the track, and Mike Kojima was the driver. He summed up the car's handling the best when he wrote, "that on the track, it was a slow oversteering hellbeast." Apparantly a lot of fun for powerslides, not the best for being fast.

Any auto-x guys have any experience with the G35 Tokico D-specs with Swift 350Z springs? The spring rates on the Swifts look to be comprable to the stock Sport springs.
