how do I know if the TPS is working?

how do I know if the TPS is working without having to let air out of the tires?

check the air pressure when your wheels are cold and compare the pressure to what the sticker on your door says, i guess. as long as the (_!_) sign isn't on, then I wouldn't worry about it.

I just bought the car used and the tires are not OEM, so that is why I am asking if there is a way to find out.

Just let the air out man. It's 50 cents to use the air compressor at a gas station. :-) Unless you can't afford 50 cents. (sell your car)

my thought...

if the sensors arent working then your light would go off. if the tpms isn't working, that's another story. (tire pressure sensor vs tire pressure monitoring system)

i'm willing to bet they're working

go to a gas station let the air our, drive around, it the (_!_) light goes on then its working.

Sure fire way is to just take it to the dealer. They will be able to hook the Consult up and see right there - you should even be able to watch them. And don't let them charge you, it takes 5min - we always did it free where I worked.

Tire Pres Sensors are the biggest pieces of crap. I have rims and don't even have the sensors and my light never comes on... you can't rely on them most the time, so don't! Just keep up with the seasons and check them every so often and you won't have worry about the light working or not.
