Stock Rotors: Warped

I have had my G for 22k now and I have noticed shaking when braking from speed 60mph+ on the freeway. It really sucks because I tend to take it easy on the brakes and do alot of down shifting. I'm assuming the stock rotors/pads are to blame. Anyone else having this problem? Any luck with the dealer? What rotors are u upgrading too?

on a related topic i advise you use the brakes to slow down, not downshifting. its better to wear out the brakes rather than your engine/transmission. ever notice that only 6mt's have oil consumption issues? brakes were made to wear and tear and slow you down. use them

I had the same issue on my '05 the dealer trued the rotors and scuffed the pads and said I was covered for another 12months. I still have only 16k but the dealer took care of it for me free of charge when i had it happen to me.

I'm thinking this summer to upgrade to some better pads that are more heat resistant and slotted rotors for more bite.

A customer brought in some very expensive cryogentically treated aftermarket rotors [from a well know Inet Tire company] and Hawk pads................all the brand new rotors were warped [out of spec] from their boxes!............0.0022-0.0058".

We tested [measured] them individually because they looked so good and cost so much.......boy can looks and expense be deceiving!

Yeah, I checked that. Maybe there are deposits on the discs - the end result is that my brakes vibrate. all the wheels are torqued to spec.

Always measure the brand new runout on rotors at time of installation as shipping and transport damage can be unseen or they can be put in a new undamaged box to sell to public.

Or they can be cheap low quality regardless of selling price!

Something they didn't mention............

I've already replaced my OEM pads with Hawk HPS pads using the correct
breakin proceedures.......but what I discovered was that using anything
but a torq wrench and 85 lbs torq will distort you discs. Go back to the
dealership and have them true your discs and let them know you want the
wheels installed with a torq wrench!

It is required by Infiniti that a 80 lb torque limiting stick be used between air wrench and lugs at all dealerships.

This device will limit over torquing and allow all lugs to be tighten equally within +- 3-4 pounds.

The oem spec is 72-88 pounds thus 80 ft/lbs stick is ideal.

Owners should buy one to keep in car incase of on the road mishap where mom and pops might not have one.

They are color coded to avoid mistakes.

Just curious which rotor they were? The reason I ask is because I installed the powerslot Cryo frozen rotors and hawk hps pads on the front of my fiance's 04 G35X about 10,000 miles ago. So far they are flawless. Neither the rotors or pads show any sign of wear and there is absolutely zero brake dust. I see these pads easily going 50,000+ miles and I see the rotors lasting 100,000 miles easily. Oh also this combo eliminated the dreaded brake noise that she use to have.

In my case it turned out to be the front rotors. After replacing them my vibration went away. I don't know what happened to them unless the lug nuts were improperly torqued from factory. I have never had the car in a shop and I am pretty **** about torqueing things correctly. Or it could have been something 'stuck' to the rotor. Either way in my case it was the front. My rotors were and still are OEM.
