Need new brakes and rotors at 19k???

I just got back from dealer and they said I need new front brake pads and rotors. I only have 19k miles. Could that be right? They said they cant even cut the rotors..... He said our brake pads are only suppose to last 15-20k. And they want to charge me $600 for it.. Not to mention when I said no to the work, they charged me $56 for looking at the brakes even though I stated that it should be under factory warranty to at least look at it at 19k miles.....

I did search on this forum but most did not say if they had to pay for the new rotors or not... And I have a 05 g35x

that's normal for the 03-04's and 05 X's, but there was a lawsuit against infiniti that forced them to replace the parts for free up to a certain mileage, something like 30k. They should replace em for free. My 05 rwd brakes have 32k miles on em and 7/32nds on the pads, i could cut the rotors twice if i wanted to.

i was in the middle of 26k when i told them to check the brakes cuz it was sqealing like alil hor. They said i need new rotors in front and pads in rear.
total i had to pay was 675 including tax.
good thing is its riding very quite.
can't complain but it did burn a hole in my pocket.

if u got rattles, i recommend a tech guy call John.

I believe the brake warranty was only for 03/04 models. Anyway, for that much money, why not just change all of them and go with aftermarket parts? I replaced all of my pads and rotors aftermarket 2 months ago for $300 parts and $200 labor (not at the dealer, of course). They've worked great, and no more front wheel brake dust. I went with R1 cross-drilled/slotted rotors and Stillen pads...

The warranty is just for the 03/04 and it goes to 36k.

I would take it to another shop that does brakes like Brake Masters or Midas, etc and see what they say before you make any decision.

that's pretty retarted since the 05 X brakes are the same as the 03-04's. I bet if you haggled them enough about it you could get em to replace it under warranty.

All my pads were about to fail (3/32nds) at around 11,500 miles. I bought the Hawk HPS pads and now I'm going to get R1concepts slotted/drilled rotors as replacements. There is a group buy for the rotors right now for $294 shipped.

Are you responsible for replacing rotors when you turn your car in at the end of a lease? I never leased before, but I hear horror stories about how they try and rape people with the smallest things.

If they are the same it might still be covered. If not, you are right and a quick fight with the service manager should get you the repairs.

I didn't let the dealer touch my brakes. I bought Hawk pads and installed it myself and now i'm due for rotors. I bought the rotors from R1concepts (group buy going on right now) and as soon as I get them, they are going on
