Shop Rates?
Stopped by my local area shop and talked to a guy about suggestions for lowering my 06' G sedan. He suggested doing it with some Tein Basic Coilovers instead of springs. He continued to say that his shop charges a minimum of $500.00 to do this work so instead of possibly having to remove the springs for something like a blown shock and being charged $1000.00 for the work done twice. While he was telling me this there were two signs behind him with the shops labor rate. $79.00 per hour for standard labor and $100.00 per hour for mechanical labor, (engine upgrades). Is it just me or does this seem like alot of money?

Damn he didn't even give you a quick lube before the rape. I mean some place at least spit before going right in.....lol....j/k That is way to much. A simple coilover install should not cost you know more than 200.00. I had a guy here in Boston who just opened up a shop tell me that he was going to charge me 250.0 for Tein springs and 500.00 just to install them (mind you my car was raised on Tein Coilovers due to a recent dealership visit). I told him he was smoking something really good, then told him I paid 900.00 installed for a coilover suspension and not just springs. For that price you should do it yourself and you could break a few things and still have money left over after fixing them

Thanks. Thats what I thought. I wasn't going to mention any names but what the hell. It was the guys over at Altered Atmosphere, and I have to say I was a little disapointed. I know of a couple of guys that have their own shops but specialize in different makes cars like Volvo and Saab. I guess I should ask them for help.
