Changing brake pads now, need advice.

I'm changing out my brake pads right now and want to make sure I'm doing it correctly.

I pulled this pin out, and now I think I need to push this rod (arrow) thru to the other side to get the pad out? The rod isn't moving, anyone know the best way to push it thru?

Do I need to take the caliper of the rotor? Pads look like the can slide thru the slot on top of the caliper.

Be back in a few minutes to see what people think. Thanks in advance

If i remember correctly, there should be two pins per rod, one on each ends. The rod itself should be able to slide out towards you, away from the car.
