Hey NICK, do u have the Gold Brembo rotors? How do u like them and what pads do u use?

the portion of the rotors that do not touch the pad have should have LESS of a chance of rusting because of the "coating." however, the parts of the rotor which touches the pad (the rotor face) will have a HIGHER chance of rusting because the "coating" will wear off. there are manufacturing process which will reduce this rusting, but to be quite honest, i don't know what they are i hope that straightens things out....

as far as recommendations...contact the manufacturer or seller and see what their take on it is. they may tell you that it's "natural." please keep in mind though that there SHOULD NOT be ANY rust which contacts the pad, PERIOD. that surface rust should come off easily with only one or two rotations of the wheel.

when the weather is better, try to "scrape" the rust off by applying the brakes gently (DON'T DRAG THE BRAKES). if the rust will not come off then, after only two weeks of owning them, i would say you would have issues and need to see about a refund/return/exchange.

I was about to post the same as N1ck, but seems like you're saying the whole thing is rusted.

Mine doesn't show that at all. However, these are the custom sets that I ordered from other places, NOT the R1 rotors.

So RXM, you mean that the whole bright silver zinc coated area shown here (in my sample pic) is rusted as well?

i do have the brembo slotted rotors (from tirerack), and am using endless vita nuova pads. i changed out my stock pads and rotors at the same time. initial bite is excellent, dusting is quite low (MUCH better than stock), it's very quite (just like stock), it looks nice! of course the aftermarket pads do not have the wear indicator, so it's a good idea to check them as often as you change oil (depending on how you drive).

i am taking the car to the track this weekend (laguna seca), but will be using carbotech pads (race compound). i suspect that i will not experience any fade (and not because i am a wuss who won't drive around fast enough ). the reason is: i've already changed out my fluid to motul, the rotors are slotted, and the pads are a good race compound.

Ive been driving around for the past 3 hours and the rust in the holes does not come off which really sucks. As well theres a circle around the hub it self thats pretty visible. which as well the rust does not come off. Now for 325$ for all 4 rotors i didn't expect to much from them as long as they look good and there zinc coated for anti rust like on of the sponsors for this web site said they will be. In my eyes that could also be considered as false advertising. But i could be wrong .

there may be a flaw in the coating process ( ). the rust in the drilled holes aren't going to come off no matter how much you drive it (the pad will never make contact with the inside of the hole). the only thing to do would be to scrape it off with a wire brush (shaped to go into the hole). what's the "circle around the hub?"

i think you guys should contact the manufacturer and see what they have to say about it first. then, if you're not happy with it...call stoptech

 

+1 on the Endless VN pads. They're very good for street and mild track/entry level uses.

N1ck, what pads you're using for track next? Endless SSS or?



Also, to those that keep saying you get what you buy for are total clueless who fell for the marketing schemes.

Brembo blanks didn't cost that much for other cars, including the old 300zx. In fact, they're ridiculously cheap back then.

And guess what, same **** for Samco hoses. People thought that $160 is a heck of a deal while in reality, dealer cost is not even 1/3 the price. It's all for the market ting schemes.

Sorry for taking this thread off topic but I'm totally pissed when people keep sticking to that stupid thought. It doesn't ALWAYS applied to EVERYTHING.

 

carbotech XP8 for the front and AX6 in the back. i would be wary of using street pads for any track event. track events will always have your rotors operating at a much higher temperature than the street ever will.

You're talking about those spots around the hubcentric area? It's 1500 miles after I put them on. The coat is pretty thin, so it's rubbing against the wheels when I put them on & take them off.

Plus they're rubbed against the wheels when I did the aggressive break-in method. Those don't even shown because they're behind the wheels.

But the non-rub and shown areas are all good.

 

Its hard to describe without pictures. I will post pictures tomorrow and everyone can see what I'm referring to.

 

not the spots on the hub area...the spots on rotor face (where pad would contact rotor).
