cheaper way to go

my 15k mile service is coming up on my g35 sedan 05 and my pads are starting to go they are starting to squeak every other few times i break. So it seems hawk pads seem to be popular amongst the G35's so would it be cheaper to have the dealership put in new pads when i get my service done or just have them hold off on that and get hawk pads and go to a local break store and have them switched out?

What do you think would be cheaper?

I would try and do it yourself. i did mine with just my tire jack in under 25 minutes per side from start to finish. Then you'll really save on laber

You will pay an arm, leg, and 3 teeth at the dealership for brake jobs

Yes do them yourself.

It's an easy job. You can even get the disks turned at your local parts dealer.

i wish i could put them on myself but my parents wont even let me try see its still their car technically i just drive it. Im going to be a junior in highschool so now you know why they wont let me do it. They say if you do one thing wrong and your breaks dont work or something happends later down the road and your breaks fail you can really damage the car or get into a serious car accident so we will let the professionals do it for now.

They say when i turn 18 or i start taking payments over on the car then i can do whatever i want to it for now they want professionals to install everything.

So with that said that i cant change the pads myself do you still think its cheaper to get them done at the dealer or go buy hawk pads and get them installed somewhere else?

If your parents simply won't let you do the install, buy the pads, and have a reputable service shop perform the work. Go to a few shops, get a quote, see which ones you would feel the best about leaving your car with. The stealership is just going to nail you on the price.
