Brakes for 04 G35 Sedan
I can't beleive this is the second time I'm having to change the brake rotors on my 04' G35 sedan that only has 40,250 miles on it. I asked the dealer who said it would cost about $550 for them to replace the rotor and pads. I was going to replace the rotors and pads myself since I'm going to have to replaces them often. The best deal I found at a local dealer was $111 for each front rotor and $75 for a set of pads which totals $297 + tax. Does anyone know where I can get a better deal on stock rotors and pads ? I'm eventually going to install a whole new brake system on the car. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ebay is a good resource, I got 4 new cross drilled slotted rotors and ceramic pads all around for around $300 shipped last time I did my brakes.

I have 26K and have replaced front pads once (Hawk HP), rear pads twice (O'Reilly metallics first then EBC Greens). Turned the rotors on the front and found that left rear was sticking - causing excess wear and thus needs replacement. Found several deals on eBay for rotors (cross drilled and slotted + pads). R1 seems to have a nice product in the < $200 range. Just be sure that your calipers do not stick because that will wear our your rotors faster. You will notice a s----s-----s-----s----s noise as you coast down the street if one is hanging. Either needs to be lubed with high temp grease or serviced.
I ran three track days - Nashville Motor Speedway and Carolina Motorsports Park. Nashville used the most brake because I had to brake hard after 115MPH run down the front stretch. CMP also had a 95+ brake zone before a hairpin.
Expect the rotors to last longer? I spoke with a tech who said they make the rotors thin so they only last about one pad change. Less weight but shorter life. He said some manufacturers barely last one change (mentioned VW - Toureg.) So if you want them to work and last, they have to be bigger and stronger. Switch to high temp brake fluid if you track it. Get braided lines for better response. And lose the plastic center caps...I melted one on my second track day.

550? Frick-A, do it yourself. You can get new front rotors, pads, tools, stands, jack and some liquor for <550.
I would look into some hawk pads, new rotors (I like aimco, brembo, whatever, just make sure they are new and a decent brand), and find the How-TO, which is somewhere on the forum. Brakes are easy. I just did them for the first time a few months ago.

Brake Pad/Rotor replacement
Hi 5150DS,
Do you recommend one of the sets more than the other. Also, how do you like the braking after you replaced them. The stock system is fantastic and I would hate to lose out on it.
