lol... this thread is funny.... Sean.. be patient.. lol
R1 sux from what i have seen.. i wouldnt buy their stuff unless i was dead broke and even then.. i would just buy OEMs for the extra cash... they have had way too many issues with their clients... that alone sets off a red flag.. and there are soooooooo many 1st time posts here... shiet i dont doubt they came in here created an account and just tried to make them look good.. idk.. it all seems so funny..

I'm glad they finally took responsibility for what happen, even though it took 3 years.
Now what about the product, i've read posts where rust and cracking has been a big problem. Did Steve provide any insite on their product ? Particularly the Premium Slotted / Drilled rotors ?
I really like the way they look but don't want to deal with rust and cracking.

pretty funny you say this. I was actually against you in your previous thread about r1 concepts, funny thing is im experiencing some pretty bad rusting on my rotors, more or less in the Xdrilled holes on my rotors. Completely filled with rust/brake dust, came goes for the slots. Im not really sure what to do or what route to take, but these were the "new batch" and was reassured (since i mentioned your thread when i purchased) this wouldnt happen in the future. Im pretty bummed ill have to replace all 4 rotors again when i change my brake pads =/

Update: 01/07/10
It appears that R1concepts' New Years resolution is to refocus on customer service and win back the respect of the G35 community.
Today, Steven; the new sales manager of R1 emailed me to offer me the customer service I deserved almost THREE YEARS AGO! He found this thread and was shocked and embarassed about how I was treated. He was very sincere and positive about how the business will now be run and I am confident that he will run the business with customer service as his #1 priority. After a series of emails, we talked on the phone and he is a really nice guy. Not only will Steven be representing R1 on the forums, he is also a new VQ owner (350z) so hopefully we will be seeing him at some of the local meets.
Please feel free to read the whole story and realize....after almost three years...R1concepts reached out to make things right!
Orginal post below

I bought the Premium line rotors about 3 months ago. After the first day I had them, they completely rusted. The whole rotor is rusted except for where the pad touches. I sent 5-10 emails to them to complain and only got an auto-response saying that I would be contacted within 48 hours. I was NEVER contacted. I finally had time today to call their "customer service" line to speak to someone. When I told them about all the emails I sent, their resopnse was "we're busy" No apology or anything. When I told him about the problem with the rotors he said, "the warranty doesnt cover rust".
I asked him if it applied to the Premium rotors with have the rust protection and he said, "yup"..then hung up!!!! Can you believe this?
Save yourself the trouble..
DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM!!!!!
I forgot to mention that when I ordered them, they sent the wrong ones so I had to drive there to exchange them and they refused to refund the shipping charges for the hassle!

Hope I don't get kicked out for this, I am trying make things clear about questions and concerns members have on R1 Concepts Product (not trying to advertise)...
R1 Concepts Inc offer two different series of rotors for your car. My stage one rotors are my E-line series rotors. Those are the ones that come dipped entirely in silver zinc platting which is a rust protection coating and standard iron cast G3000 metal material similar to your originals. If you are looking for "quality rotors" concentrating in the COSMETIC APPEARANCE of the rotors then your best bet is to go with the E-line series since every part of the rotor does have some kind of coating after being drilled.
Premium rotors are considered to be my best performance rotor is because the Premium series rotors are made with stronger iron grade casting (G3500). The Premium rotors are built with a 50/50 center split vane structure design for more efficient airflow. If you are looking for Quality rotors as far as built quality and materials used, go with Premiums. The Premiums comes with a black E-coat rust protection coating applied ONLY on the center hub, inner vane structure and outer rim of rotor. We cannot zinc plate the Premium rotors (chemical discoloration occurs on the black areas) If you are worried about rust in the holes and slots, the only thing we can do or you can do is to spray the entire rotor with high temp black spray paint lightly and evenly. Set it dry and install, let the brake pads do the rest of the job by taking off the excess of paint. The will help prevent the rust appearance in the holes and slots or areas where there is no E-coating.
Every rotor company out there including ourselves is trying all we can to meet customer's demand, especially in the rust area. I deeply apologize but we do what we can to prevent rust but please keep in mind that we are still dealing with iron cast, nobody including R1 Concepts Inc. has said that this is a anti-rust protection coating and that your rotors will never rust. R1 Concepts Inc. is a one year warranty on all brake rotors for warping and cracking only.
