Cool New rotors

Has anyone came across this before?

I have installed new front rotors, slotted ones.. DBA 4000.

Now it looks funny because the brake pads don't cover all the area of the rotors (only the outer circle are contact). The inner circle area is untouch.

I looked at my neighbor's Maxima.. they have bigger pads..

I wonder if I can use Maxima's pads?

Not to mention now my braking performance has decreased compare to stock rotors.. Now I can't make the ABS turn on when I floor my brake pedal. I think I use to be able to do that before..

I only had the new rotors for 400 km.. maybe hasn't bedded in?

Everything looks fine to me, even on BBK's the pads dont cover the entire surface area of the rotors. What break in procedure did you use for the brakes?

My Break-in procedure was not to do any hard brakes during the first 300-400 miles. I am only on 150miles right now.

But I did hard brake once just to test if I install everything properly. This is the first time I change the rotors on my own. I hope that one time didn't warp my rotors.

What do you suggest?

Find a wide open space of road with no stop signs/lights

10 runs at 60-10 (hard braking), speed back up to 60 immediately after each run. Avoid coming to a full stop at all costs. After the 10 runs drive the car on the freeway for 10-15 minutes avoiding any major braking to let the brakes cool down. Park the car and let it cool all the way down (til the brakes are cool to the touch). Your pads/rotors should be fully bedded.

You are not supposed to contact the inner-hub ring, next to the hub, where it is attached to the rotor (the outer rim). Pound on the brakes hard a couple times on a back road to get the bite into the rotor and level off the pads. Maybe go for a flex-stainless line kit. My 2 cents.

I have the same rotors (DBA 4000) and also hate the discoloration where the pads don't touch the rotors. I agree that the stopping power seems less than OE. I even replaced my stock lines to SS. What pads are you using?
