How can I improve my brakes?

05 IP Coupe

My brakes are ok. When I drive my coupe I don't notice that they suck, but when I drove another car and got on my coupe after that you can deff notice that they suck *****.

Drove M35 yesterday and FX35 and got in my coupe after that, and I almost flipped out. It's like I did not have any brakes at all. They were so slow and not responsive at all.

I have stop tech slotted rotors and not sure which pads.

So I deff need to improve that.

How can I do it?

Would flushing the system work? That's the only thing I can think of.

I have done that after I replaced them.

But then my fluid got low and I had to ad some more.

So I guess I could bleed them.

Your brakes are world class and should be better performing than both the M35 and FX35.

What pads are you using and how much rear pad do you have left?

Got plenty pads left. I was not much impressed with them when I just put them on. I did bleed the system. Maybe I did not do enough. I don't know.

cuz as I said my fluid level did drop about a week after and it dropped gooooooooooood. I even had a brake light come on.

WHAT pads are you using? Why did you bleed the system if you're just changing pads? IMHO if the level went down, something isn't right or you didn't bleed them right.

I assume you are feeling alot of pedal travel or a mushy pedal.

when I was changing them I did not have any tools to compress the piston. So I just oppended up the bleeder and pushed in the piston. With that some oil escaped. So when I was done putting on the brakes I bleed them again (push pedal till it's hard and bleed, repeat several times) with that I kept on adding the fluid.

My pedal is not mushy and does not have too much travel. It's just when I press it I don't get a rapid response from the brakes. It feel like my pistons have to travel 2 miles before they reach the pads and start pushing.

did you glaze your pads? you can try to rescruff then and resurface the rotor and rebreak in the pads

I have slotted rotors

So I don't think my pads are glazed.

Unless you bleed them properly and in the right order, that might be hindering performance. Also if you pistons "have to travel a mile" then yes, you are experiencing excessive pedal travel.

But I'll ask one more time. WHAT PAD are you running? Stock? Aftermarket? What's the performance characteristics of the pad you choose? Is performance hindered when cold? Warm? All the time? etc....

I'll assume you bought non-oems. If so, most likely they are less grabby then the two other cars you drove (that probably have oem pads). I run aftermarkets because I couldn't stand the dust. But I do note that the pads are quite a bit less grabby upon intial braking.

You spent the money to buy quality gear. Invest the money to have them serviced by a professional. From your description you don't have them anywhere near to being properly bled.

As well part of your problem may be the type of pads you have. Unless you can find that out others can't comment.

Bleeding is not an issue here. You got generic "long life pads", that kind which is installed by Midas et al with "Lifetime warranty". They last longer but have less bite. Replace them with Axxis, Hawk, KVR street perfromance pad or even Nissan OEM and you should be OK. Do not go crazy, around $80 should get you pad with good bite.
But you will have to live with shorter pad life, possibly more noise and dust.
