06 Brakes Installed

I finally got to install the new brakes on my 03 sedan. I installed the 06 calipers, Racing Brake Slotted Rotors, Hawk Pads, and SS lines.

I must say it is a big big difference. No more jerking when I touch the brake pedal, and the car stops really great. I have not pushed the brakes hard yet since I want to break them in. So far only got like 200 miles on them.

I also changed the brake fluid to DOT4 Racing fluid.

I'll post later when I get to really push them.

You should bed them in properly, not baby them. See the recommendations on Hawk's website, or on the packaging, for pad bedding.

I did break them in according to their specs. But for now after that I'm taking it easy on them.

OK, but why? It's not like engine break-in.

yeah I know but I usually take it slow for like the first 200 to 300 miles. I was beating them up today already very glad I did the mod.

Awesome upgrade! Can you comment on the weight diff inbetween the bigger 06 rotors vs the oem 03s? Thanks

Good stuff for the 06+ brakes

bigger pads, bigger rotors and one more piston per caliper

No there is no need to change the master cylinder. As for the weight difference the calipers are a lot heavier I did not weigh them when I did the install but they were damn heavy. The rotors themselves are not that much of a weight difference. the rear calipers are the same with the exception of the larger bracket.

where did you get the larger bracket for the rear ?

is it all a direct bolt on?

+1, More info on the install please.
Are the 06 calipers a fixed opposing piston design or are they still floating? How does this bolt up to the knuckle?
How is pedal feel with the new setup?

The rear caliper brackets/calipers I found online for $60 for the set. As for the pedal feel it is a lot better than with the smaller brakes. If you own a G with the smaller brakes, these brakes are really sensitive and jerk when you tap the brakes. This has disappeared.

The front calipers are dual floating piston calipers, they are not opposing each other. I will try to get some pictures with my stock rims up when I get a chance. Let me know if there are anymore questions.
