Problems with Toyo Proxes T1R

So I have had the Toyo's on my car for about 8 months- 12,000 miles. Now I know I drive them hard, but they have gotten really noisy and their handling now sucks. Everytime I take a turn I feel like the side walls of the tires are giving or something. There is more movement in the backend then there was when they were new. I also have a problem with them leaking air, and there are no holes in them.

Has anyone else had any problems like this?

Weird, I've had mine for over a year and haven't had any problems with them.

yeah i had problems with mines as well...the side walls felt like they were going to give....and the tread only lasted less than 15,000 miles....with good camber and toe adjustments after i lowered.....I went through the brand new set really fast....

I got my new rims in Jan/Feb this year...the car i bought last thanksgiving with 14k+ miles on it...rims were put on about 20k maybe alittle less....I just bought new tires for the rear of my car about a month ago because my toyo's were gone...I only have 31k on my car now...

I have had my T1 Rs on for about a year and I am also haveing problems with them leaking air. To be honest I'm so sick of it. I have had the tires off probably a half dozen times and they could not locate any leaks. Can't complain about the handling though.

I thought it was widely know that the t1r's have horribly soft sidewalls?

Check your pressure! I've had mine for over a year and they're great, but they do require fairly high pressure - over 40 lbs. Less than that will allow the sidewalls to flex (that's bad) during maneuvering, but I am running 19s and the sidewall is very small.

Running 40psi to compensate for soft sidewalls isn't the best idea IMO

It's not "compensating", it is the pressure required by the specifications. My tire guy went into an extremely long dissertation the day he mounted them. He wanted to make sure I knew the inflation requirements for low-profile tires differed from regular tires. If in doubt, check with the place you purchased your tires.

Tires should be inflated to OEM specs, not to some arbitrary number. Your tire guy is full of BS

Yea I am running 35lbs in the tires, and drop about 3-4psi per month or so on the one tire. The rest drop the normal of about 1psi per month. I got an alignment about 3 months ago when I had the 60K work done.
