went to Cerritos Infiniti because my car was making a clicking noise on hard right turns.
took a test drive with a tech.
got a call just a while ago.
they said it's my wheel bearings in the front and rear of the driver's side.
also told me they are not covered because i have suspension work done.

....saying bigger wheels and lowered suspension puts more load on the bearings.

the service rep. told me if it was just ONE wheel, it could be covered, but it was TWO so they had to call Infiniti and get approval which was declined.

so what do I do? seems BS to me but can suspension gurus help me out with their explanation on how my wheel bearings failed.

Tell the dealership to get you proof that the suspension caused the failure. Otherwise, they have to cover it.

 

i had mine replaced at the STEALERship and it was covered. I had to talk them into it but they did. Tell them to do the physics and If they can prove that then you might want to buy them lol

 

They are covered under powertrain warranty...

As far as being lowered with aftermarket wheels... Tell them your volk wheels are even lighter then the factory OEM 19" Rays forged wheels and they are made from the same company.

Better yet, bring it to us at Riverside INFINITI!

The only thing that would really cause one side is if you ever rubbed up against a curb pretty hard and over time it gained excessive movement in the bearings...

Did they pull the wheels and check the hubs / bearings?

 

Yea id fight it.... i had some of my wheel bearings changed at 69k under warranty and my car is on 20 inch chrome rims and underneath shows excessive signs of being slammed, although it wasnt at time i brought it to them......

 

I somewhat agree with their findings, 2 wheel bearings failing prematurely is very unlikely, and probably a result of either excess loading or damage through an accident/pothole. I'm not saying they shouldn't cover it, as it will be hard to prove those are the causes, but it doesn't sound like a defect that cause both of them to fail

As long as the wheels/tires/sizes don't exceed oem weight and no suspension mods of any kind they should cover it.

But I've seen many replacement wheels used where there was front damage [bent oem wheels] used to try to cover it up for warranty.

Customers often are devious and fail the lie detector tests

Jason's awesome. But, the real truth is, this is a gray area. Some dealerships are mod friendly and will cover it under warranty. Some aren't. A large part of it really is at the dealership's discretion and they say stuff like "we'll have to check w/ Infiniti" just to give the consumer an excuse.

This is evident in the large # of times, people have complained to Infiniti about a dealer not wanting to warrant something and Infiniti's response is to push the customer back to the dealer. The other thing too is, if the dealer fixed it under warranty and submitted it to Infiniti, Infiniti has no way of knowing whether the car was modified or not. So, again, a large part of it goes back to dealership discretion.

Since Jason sells a ton of parts and upgrade mods at his dealership, it makes sense that Riverside Infiniti is mod friendly.

Its not so much that the dealer does not want to warranty it, they do, they make money off it, the tech's make money off it. But, Just because warranty work is done on the car, does not mean the dealer is actually going to get paid for it. Once a warranty repair is performed, the dealership submits the claim to INFINITI / NISSAN. INFINITI / NISSAN will either pay the claim, Request replaced parts back for inspection, or deny the claim. If INFINITI / NISSAN see something odd like both Left Side wheel hubs, they may assume the car hit a curb or something and deny the claim. So it is hard for any dealership mod friendly or not to beable to help out the customer. But, they can try harder them some...

 

Got my car back today.
The service rep. was going over things he fixed - window streak (just cleaned it again....geez), rear shelf rattle (insulated somehow), and my oil change, but skipped out on the clicking that i wanted fixed, which he wasn't going to anyway.

Driving home, I tested out to see if my car was still making the clicking noise, and I haven't heard it yet. Maybe they fixed it?
Just hope it doesn't come back b4 my warranty ends.

 

Oh yea and I hit absolutely ZERO of anything to cause my wheel bearings to fail.
I slow down on any bumps i see.

but i DO make hard right turns. seems like an inferior product to me.

 

I think my bearings are going out too, but I just hit 90k miles. way past the warranty period.

1. 20" wheels with 15mm spacers
2. hit and damaged both drivers side wheels recently while running over a log on the highway at night going 70mph

 

If dealer refuses up to owners to contact and meet Nissan Zone Personnel and persuade them to authorize repair.

After all the warranty is with Nissan not the dealer.
