Sway bars, rear squeaking, creaking, compression rods?
Sway bars, rear squeaking, creaking, compression rods?
The dealer installed front and rear Stillen sway bars for me this past summer. I got them to put it on the "middle" stiffness setting. Car drove wonderfully for a few months, then creaking/squeaking began to develop in the rear of the car. It is quite loud and annoying now, and you can hear it easily inside or outside of the car. The noise occurs when going over bumps or uneven pavement, making turns, etc. Basically whenever the rear suspension moves. I have started doing research and I am reading alot about the compression rods making this noise, but that seems to be an issue only on the front suspension. Is that correct? This is definitely coming from the rear. Since the dealer installed the sway bars and this noise appeared not so long after, do I have a bargaining chip to get them to fix this for free (no longer under warranty)? Any ideas?

If not, you have to pull the bushing and slather it in sticky water resistant grease and reinstall.

The bushings are undoubtly split right? So no I don't think you have to remove the bar. Just remove the bracket and slip the bushing off. Lube the unholy hell out of it with marine style bearing grease or the stuff that should have come with your bars and reinstall.

Check your end links while you're greasing the bushings.
