suspension setup question

Hey all, ok so I've decided maybe its time to lower my car and stiff it up a lil. I'm not looking for anything crazy here, I'm thinking 1-1.5 inch all around. I am totally new to modding cars so any input would be great!

btw I have an 03 6mt coupe fully loaded except Nav & Aero Kit ( I do have the splash guards + rear wing) everything stock. I've got about 53k miles on it and think its probably best to switch out my suspensions (anyone have a guesstimate on how long stock suspensions last? Seems like my rear is sitting lower than before)

So these are the aftermarket parts I'm thinking of getting.


1. Tein Basic - anyone know where I can get these for the best price possible? I know going for springs would save me big bucks but I really can't deal with not having the option to adjust the height. (did a search however theres like 10million posts regarding tein basic, and I couldnt locate a thread with best pricing availability.)


2. Camber Kit - did some research on the forum and decided its probably best for the car to get these if I decide to drop my G. Question tho, would I need both front and rear if I got Tein Basics? Also which brand do you guys suggest, I'm looking for good quality + best price possible.


3. Strut / Sway Bars - I'm totally oblivious to these, for all I know they stiff up the car and make them handle better. Which one is normally installed first, Strut or Sway? Also which brand do you guys suggest? I'm looking for good quality + best price possible.


4. Wheel Spacers - saw these on everythingg35.com, they have the package with Tein Basic. Other than the looks do these improve handling? Also if I were to upgrade my rims to 19's later on would I have an issue here with the fitting?


So I'm thinking suspension should be the 1st mod to go for. My G is my daily, so I won't be going FI, and to go NA would mean $$$ for performance and I dont really have that much to spare.

I would not recommend getting coilovers if you are new to modding. They generally make more noise than using stock struts, and tend to have more maintenance of keeping ride height equal. And you really don't need to keep adjusting the height, you generally set it where you like and leave it. So why not just get springs that are the proper height?

Thanks for the suggestion, which springs would u suggest I get if I wanted an overall drop of >1inch? I've heard good things about Tein S or H techs..

tein h techs are a more mild drop....not much of a drop at all if you ask me. you prolly wont the tein s tech springs for a more aggressive drop, that will help you accomplish your goal of about 1" drop. read around alittle......the 350z s tech springs are the biggest drop you can get i believe as far as the springs are concerned.

My only problem with your suggestion is that he already has 50k+ miles on his OEM suspension, which he feels has run its course. Now depending on who you talk to, OEM suspensions are in an optimal state of use through 50k-60k miles and they then begin to degrade exponentially after that.

If he feels his suspension has run its course, then just adding lowering springs will only worsen his OEM struts. My suggestion is, shy away from the Tein basics as it doesnt seem like you want to constantly adjust suspension height. instead buy a set of Tokico D-specs (ver. DSP-7) and pair them up with Tein H-techs for a nice firm drop. This will run you about the same as the Tein's, but leave out the need for height adjustment, plus i think tokico makes a better strut.

I would also go ahead and get the rear adjustment extensions to make adjustments easier once you have the suspension installed. it might be the case you wont have to adjust them again once your happy, but you will probably have to adjust them a few times before you find your ideal firmness.

So here's what I suggest you buy:
1. Tokico D-Spec for G35 coupe (model number DSP-7)
2. Tein H-Tech for the 350Z (better spring rate than G35)
3. Tokico rear adjustment extensions
4. SPC basic camber/toe kit
5. Nismo sways, Hotckiss if you want something adjustable
6. Twisty road to enjoy them on!
