Brakes Brembo Brake Problem after replacing pads and turning rotors

Hey guys, i have a question for you?

I replaced the pads and used the hawk HPS pads, i also turned the rotor assembled everything and now when i press the brake hard i hear a THUD THUD THUD THUD THUD... ITS ONLY WHEN I PRESS HARDER THAN NORMAL...Its not the anti-locks either. Sounds like the wheel is loose, but its not!! Dont know what else it could be. i double checked everything tightened everything, even made sure my pad spacers were in.

Has this happened to anyone here? Any Suggestions? I heard from someone, you can't turn the rotors on G35's you should just replace them. Is this true? HELP PLEASE!!!

double check again and again. It's human to forget things, even if you think you've double checked already. It might be a PITA, but you can always take it apart again and reinstall everything.

Double check those bolts holding down the calipers, and check those pins that keeps the pads in place, make sure you've inserted them into the hole of the pads.

Make sure you Torque the caliper bolts to the correct specifications. That can cause a slight imbalance to the way the routers make contact to the pads. If its only sight error you would only see it a high speeds with quick decels.

ok so i just got back from the brake shop and they said that i need to replace the rotors. They said due to the way they were cut its causing vibration on the g35's once the rotor has a lip you cant resurface, just have to replace?

Has anyone experianced this? If i replace my rotors, does anyone have a good opinion what i should get? Stock or upgraded? Also can you feel the slots when you press the brake if i get rotors with slots or drilled?

Go with AFTERMARKET! As for slotted/cross drilled, you can not feel the slottes in the car. Those are only there for heat dissapation. Here are a couple of places for complete replacement for pads, rotors, and lines.

If they are at or below minimum thickness then you can't resurface, otherwise you can.

As for replacements, there are lots of options - it depends on your primary usage and driving style. For good OEM replacements (non-slotted, non-drilled), the Centric premium rotors are a good alternative:

(scroll down to the Centric section, the 320mm plain rotors)
These are them:

You may not feel slotted , but some folks have reported more noise from them (a "whooshing" sound.)

i used to cut rotors all the time.. if ur rotor is warped at all before the cut it is realy hard to make it like new again. specially if its thickness is too small to cut. they could have been slightly warped before you cut them, but the old pads wore out with the warpage and didnt make the "thud" noise. so now there are new pads on warped rotors..their not going to meet correctly so you get a "thud" sound and sometimes the steering wheel will shake when u apply the brakes. i've seen this happen many times... could be the problem

Now thats a good find. I ended up buying a set of cross drill/ slotted rotors from R1 Concepts. I should be getting them in today and installing this week. I'll keep this thread posted on the quality and recommendations
