03-04 RB OE BBK Question

Had my mechanic install Racingbrake OEM BBK, mated with PBR DP pads. I noticed a bit of brake pad squeal so I picked up a tube of Synthetic Brake Caliper grease and attempted to take the pads off. Cleaned everything and applied the new grease. I've never worked on brakes before.

After putting it back together, I noticed vibration at moderate speeds when braking.

Rotors are new, pads are new, so the rotors are not warped b/c there was no vibration previous to me taking it apart last night.

What could have caused this? Overtightening of the caliper bolt? something else?

Thanks.

did you pump your brakes before starting the car? did you make sure everything was buttoned up right?

Maybe he overtorqued your lug nuts and warped the rotor.

Pumped brakes, yes, torqued caliper bolt to 22ft-lbs, torqued lug nuts to 85ft-lbs (cross bolt torquing).

The thing is, I don't think I warped the rotors b/c I don't feel any vibration at any other speeds except around 30-40 miles.

I'll try to take some pics tonight.

Only that speed sounds more like a tire balance issue.

yup i agree....

as far as the other comment....how can you warp a rotor from over tightenin them??? serious if they warp due to that dont you think its a lil unsafe in that case??? I would hope the bolts break from tighten it to tight

Here you go smart guy. http://www.innerauto.com/Auto_Part/Brake_Disc/

Because of the stress that brake discs can experience it can be damaged in one of these three ways, they can warp, scar or even crack. Warping is caused by the heat generated from friction. The heat softens the metal which causes it to be reshaped. Another cause of warping is caused when the overheated disc is immediately cooled. This happens when a clamped disc is immediately released and is immediately cooled down. Improper torquing of lug nuts can also cause warping.

smart guy here again. .. rotors are warped due to the type of pads and the heat it causes on the disc man. Why would over tighten the studs cause it to warp rather then breaking the wheel stud off when over tightern them like any other bolt/nut when is over tightened?? And the link you posting is an Ad to sell items. haha

You might be right? maybe 100% or maybe not but I'd like to see some R&D on that type of stuff since i like to learn about new information rather then reading some ad
